Product description:

  • This is a management system for Victron lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO4) smart batteries.
  • It is designed for 12V systems with 12V alternator.
  • It controls and protects all battery cells.
  • In case of low or high battery voltage or over-temperature, it will disconnect the alternator.
  • With reserved connection for the alternator, providing current limitation and unidirectional traffic from the alternator to the battery.
    • Any size alternator can be connected to the battery or Smart lithium batteries.
  • The connection reserved for charging will disconnect the loads in the event of low or high battery voltage or over-temperature.
  • Features a remote on/off connector.
  • Protects the starter battery.
    • Current will only reach the LiFePO4 (LFP) battery if the input voltage exceeds 13V.
    • Current will not flow back from the LFP battery to the starter battery.
  • The input current is electronically limited to approx. 90% of the nominal value of the fuse being used.
  • Input overvoltages are regulated to a safe level, including transients.
  • It will stop the charging process if there is over-voltage or over-temperature of the cells.
  • It has three outputs:
    • Load disconnection output; in case there are cells that are going to have an imminent low voltage, it will switch to free-float.
      • Maximum current of 10 mA.
    • Pre-alarm output.
      • Can be used as a warning when the battery voltage is low.
      • To activate a relay, an LED or an acoustic signal.
      • This output is usually free-floating, it goes high in case there are cells that are going to have a low voltage. The delay between pre-alarm and load disconnection is thirty seconds.
      • Maximum current of 1 A.
    • Charger disconnection output; becomes floating when there is over-voltage or over-temperature in the cells.
      • Maximum current of 10 mA.
  • It has MOSFET switches, making it fireproof.
  • The maximum continuous load current is 100 A (with a 125 A fuse).
  • The input voltage to start charging is > 13V.
  • Excluding the charging and charger output current, the current consumption is 16 mA.
  • Working temperature range from -40 to 60 ºC.
  • It has IP65 degree of protection.
  • The DC power supply connections are M8.
  • The battery negative of the DC connector is a 6.3 mm female faston.
  • Its measurements are 120 mm wide, 65 mm high and 224 mm deep.
  • It weighs 1.6 kg.
  • Emissions EN 61000-6-3, EN 55014-1.

Optional:

  • Connection cable for BMS CL 12 V and 100 A.
    • This is a cable that connects a BMS (Battery Management System) without VE.Bus port and a MultiPlus model inverter.
    • It will shut down the Multiplus when the BMS encounters low or high voltage or high temperature alarm conditions on the Victron Energy "Smart Battery" (LiFePO4) battery bank.
    • Then, when the alarm condition disappears, the BMS will turn the MultiPlus back on.
    • This cable is compatible with the following models:
      • MultiPlus 500 VA and 1600 VA.
      • MultiPlus Compact 800 VA and 2 kVA.
      • MultiPlus-II with BMS products without VE.Bus interface.
        • For example Smart BMS CL 12-100 and smallBMS.
    • The cable must be connected to the on/off connector of the MultiPlus models.
