- Drilling: Drill out the damaged thread with a suitable twist drill bit, bearing in mind that thread repair requires an oversize hole, and ensure the tap and the ProCoil bolt have matching thread form and pitch.
- Tapping: Cut the new retention thread in the predrilled hole using a tap, and use cutting oil to improve the operation and extend the life of the tap.
- Insert assembly: Insert the threaded sleeve into the fitting tool ensuring the retention tang sits correctly in the slot and the circlip is secure, then wind the sleeve in the direction of the thread with light pressure and avoid turning the sleeve backwards to prevent tang breakage.
- Tang breaking: Remove the fitting tool and snap off the retention tang using the specified mandrel, leaving the new ProCoil insert ready for immediate use.
- Material and compatibility: Robust construction to withstand pressure and torque during extraction and installation, with a red handle for easy identification and a black working end, specifically suited for M14 threads and compatible with ProCoil thread repair systems.
