Safety warnings and precautions

Main risks

  • Tipping due to unbalanced loading or children or pets climbing.
  • Finger pinching when opening or closing doors, drawers or drop-down fronts.
  • Shelf collapse or deformation due to overloading.
  • Trips caused by open doors or footwear protruding into walkways.
  • Impacts when opening in narrow hallways or near other doors and furniture.
  • Built-up moisture causing mould, unpleasant odours or slippery puddles from drips.
  • Damaged edges or parts that can cause cuts or splinters.
  • Assembly hazards due to small parts and the use of tools.

Safe use

  • Place the shoe cabinet on a level, stable surface; adjust the levelling feet if fitted.
  • Leave sufficient space to open without encroaching on walkways or colliding with other doors.
  • Secure tall or narrow models to the wall with appropriate fixings where possible.
  • Observe the recommended load, distribute the weight, and place heavier footwear on the lower levels.
  • Open and close gently, and only one drawer or drop-down front at a time; keep fingers clear of hinges and runners.
  • Dry footwear before storing it and use trays or mats to catch drips.
  • Ensure good ventilation inside to prevent condensation and odours.
  • Do not stand or sit on the shoe cabinet and avoid using it for support.
  • Keep the front area clear to prevent trips.
  • During assembly, follow the instructions and keep children and pets away from parts and tools.

Storage and maintenance

  • Position the unit away from direct heat sources and excessive humidity.
  • Clean with a soft, slightly damp cloth and dry afterwards; avoid abrasive products.
  • Check and re-tighten screws, hinges and shelf supports periodically.
  • Replace damaged, splintered or deformed parts immediately.
  • Air the interior regularly and promptly remove wet footwear.
  • Fit protectors to the feet to prevent slipping and floor marks.
  • If you need to move it, empty it and secure doors and drawers to stop them opening.
  • Clean runners and hinges and lubricate lightly only if specified by the manufacturer.

Restrictions on use

  • For domestic indoor use, unless the manufacturer expressly states otherwise.
  • Do not use as a step, stool, bench or support.
  • Do not store liquids, flammable products or very heavy items unrelated to footwear.
  • Avoid placing it so it blocks exits, stairs or narrow corridors.
  • Assembly and fixing to be carried out by adults; keep small parts out of the reach of children.
  • In households with children, supervise the use of drop-down fronts and drawers.
  • Do not modify the structure or drill the unit without the manufacturer's instructions; this could compromise its stability.
