Safety warnings and precautions

Main risks

  • Cuts and scrapes when handling sharp-edged items such as peelers, graters or accessory knives included in some sets.
  • Burns from contact with utensils heated by leaving them resting on pots or pans, as well as from steam or splashes.
  • Sudden splashes when inserting damp utensils into oil or very hot liquids.
  • Deformation or deterioration of plastic or silicone parts due to exposure to direct flame or excessive temperatures.
  • Detachment of tool heads, rivets or loose attachments that may fall into the food or cause cuts.
  • Cross-contamination between raw and ready-to-eat foods if reused without washing.
  • Choking hazard from small parts or protective caps if children are nearby.

Safe use

  • Check the manufacturer's instructions regarding maximum temperature and use before first use.
  • Keep utensils away from flames and heating elements; do not leave them inside the cooking vessel while it is on the hob unless they are designed for it.
  • Insert utensils slowly into hot liquids or oil, and preferably when dry, to minimise splashes.
  • Always hold by the handle, keeping it dry and in good condition; use heat protection if necessary.
  • Handle peelers, graters and other sharp edges with particular care; use a stable work surface and keep fingers away from the edge.
  • Do not use utensils that are bent, cracked, with loose parts or persistent odours; replace them.
  • Do not use the utensils as a lever, opener or tool other than for culinary purposes to avoid breakages and injuries.
  • Position handles facing inwards and place utensils on stable supports to prevent falls or accidental snagging.
  • Remove and dispose of ties, packaging and protectors before use, keeping them out of the reach of children.

Storage and maintenance

  • Wash before first use and after each use; rinse thoroughly to remove detergent residues.
  • Separate and clean immediately any utensils used with raw foods to prevent cross-contamination.
  • Check whether the product is dishwasher safe; if in doubt, hand-wash with a soft sponge and no abrasives.
  • Avoid leaving wooden parts or items with porous handles to soak for prolonged periods; dry completely before storing.
  • Store in a dry, ventilated place, away from sources of direct heat or intense sunlight.
  • Protect and keep out of the reach of children any sharp-edged items (peelers, graters, accessory knives).
  • Check periodically for cracks, deformations, edge wear or loose parts; replace any damaged item.
  • Organise storage to prevent falls or cuts when removing utensils from drawers or racks.

Restrictions on use

  • Not suitable for direct contact with open flame, embers, grills, electric hobs, ovens or microwaves, unless expressly indicated by the manufacturer.
  • Do not insert utensils into deep fryers or pressure cookers while they are operating.
  • Do not use the utensils to handle non-food, corrosive or highly acidic products that could damage them.
  • Do not allow children to use sharp-edged items; in other cases, only under adult supervision.
  • Avoid use if the grip is not secure (slippery, wet or greasy handles) or if the work area is unstable.
