Safety warnings and precautions
Main risks
- Electrical risk due to incorrect installation, damaged cables or loose connections.
- Overheating if the luminaire is covered or is too close to combustible materials (wooden frames, paper, fabrics, curtains).
- Unit falling due to inadequate fixings, potentially damaging the artwork and causing injury.
- Glare and visual fatigue due to improper aiming of the light beam.
- Artwork deterioration (discolouration or frame heating) from prolonged exposure or excessive proximity.
- Risk in damp areas if the product is not designed for such use (corrosion, short circuits).
- Tripping hazards or accidental tugs caused by loose or poorly routed cables.
Safe use
- Follow the manufacturer's instructions for installation and use wall plugs and screws suitable for the wall type; ensure a firm, level fixing.
- Maintain a safe distance between the luminaire and the picture/fabrics; do not rest the unit on the frame and allow ventilation around it.
- Use only the recommended light source, wattage and accessories; if dimming, do so only with compatible dimmers.
- Before handling, disconnect from the mains or unplug and allow to cool completely.
- Do not cover the luminaire or place it close to curtains or other combustible items; avoid enclosed display cases unless the product permits.
- Aim the light to avoid reflections and glare when moving around the room.
- Route cables flush to the wall or protect them to prevent tugs; do not pinch them with the frame or furniture.
- Do not use outdoors or in bathrooms or other humid areas unless the product explicitly states otherwise.
- Permanent connection to the mains must be carried out by a qualified electrician.
- If you detect a burning smell, abnormal flickering or excessive temperature, switch off and stop using until checked in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions.
Storage and maintenance
- Clean when cool with a soft, dry cloth; avoid abrasive products, solvents or aerosols on the luminaire and the picture.
- Periodically remove dust from the surface and from any slots to aid heat dissipation.
- Periodically check screws and fixings; re-tighten if necessary without over-tightening.
- Check the condition of cables, switches and plugs; if visible damage is present, do not use the product.
- Replace the light source when performance declines, following the specifications; do not force the lampholder or modify the unit.
- If battery-powered: use the specified type, do not mix new and used batteries, observe polarity and remove them if the equipment will not be used for long periods.
- Store the product and spare parts in a dry place, protected from dust, with no weight on top and away from sources of heat or moisture.
- Monitor the condition of the picture over time; if you notice discolouration or the frame heating up, increase the distance or reduce the time it is switched on.
Restrictions of use
- Not a toy; keep out of the reach of children and pets.
- Do not use the picture light if the wall has cracks, damp or the mounting surface is unsuitable.
- Do not install on unstable surfaces, weak frames or directly onto flammable materials.
- Do not drill, open or modify the luminaire, the cable or the bracket.
- Do not exceed the maximum wattage indicated or use incompatible bulbs or light sources.
- Do not cover with fabrics, diffusers or shades not designed for this model.
- Do not use with extension leads or overloaded multi-socket adaptors, or on overloaded circuits.
- Do not use as emergency lighting, nor leave it on for long periods unattended when positioned very close to combustible materials.
