Safety warnings and precautions

Main risks

  • Animal escape due to poorly adjusted fastenings, gaps or excessive spacing between bars.
  • Entrapment of paws, head or collar in mesh, bars or misaligned joints.
  • Cuts or scratches from sharp edges, loose wires, protruding screws or degraded welds.
  • Tipping or shifting of the enclosure due to jumps, animal pushing or strong wind.
  • Heat stress, dehydration or hypothermia outdoors due to direct sun, lack of shade or severe cold.
  • Access by predators or unfamiliar animals if the enclosure is low or left uncovered outdoors.
  • Ingestion of small detached parts, coatings or rust flakes.
  • Bumps and trips for people around the enclosure; finger pinches in hinges or panels during assembly.

Safe use

  • Assemble following the product instructions and check that all panels and fastenings are secure and stable.
  • Place on a flat, level surface, away from stairs, balconies, pools or other hazards.
  • Outdoors, anchor the enclosure to the ground if the design allows and check it cannot move in the wind.
  • Check and secure the latches at each use; use closing systems suited to the animal’s ability and strength.
  • Choose a size and bar spacing appropriate to the species and the animal’s growth; avoid collars or items that could snag inside.
  • Supervise particularly during the first uses and after changes of location; do not leave the animal unattended for prolonged periods.
  • Provide sufficient water, shade and shelter; avoid direct sun exposure or extreme cold.
  • Check frequently that there are no sharp points, loose parts, corrosion or broken areas; stop use until repaired or replaced.
  • Do not hang heavy accessories that could destabilise the enclosure nor place objects nearby that the animal could reach and chew through the bars.

Storage and maintenance

  • Clean regularly with pet-safe products; rinse and dry thoroughly to prevent corrosion and unpleasant odours.
  • After cleaning or rain, dry the metal parts and check that no damp areas remain that encourage rust.
  • Periodically inspect screws, hinges and joints; tighten or replace worn components.
  • Store folded with no weight on top, in a dry, ventilated place, protected from moisture and prolonged direct sunlight.
  • Do not make makeshift fixes with wire or cable ties that create sharp edges or hazardous gaps.
  • After storms or impacts, check stability and fixings before using again.

Usage restrictions

  • Do not use as a pet carrier nor move the enclosure with the animal inside.
  • Not intended as permanent housing; the animal needs exercise, enrichment and appropriate rest outside the enclosure.
  • Not suitable for children; it is not a children’s playpen nor an item to climb on or sit on.
  • Do not use with animals that may jump, dig or chew and escape without additional specific measures.
  • Do not place heavy objects on the enclosure nor use it as a load-bearing barrier.
  • Suspend use if the enclosure is damaged, unstable or has loose rust until it is repaired or replaced.
