Safety warnings and precautions
Main risks
- Vehicle falling or slipping due to overloading, poor alignment, or an unsuitable surface.
- Unexpected vehicle movement when driving up or down due to sudden acceleration or braking.
- Ramps slipping because of dirt, oil, water, ice, or dust on the support base.
- Structural failure of the ramp due to prior impacts, cracks, corrosion, or undetected deformations.
- Hand or foot entrapment when placing, adjusting, or removing the ramps.
- Burns from contact with hot components, and risk of fume poisoning if the engine is running in enclosed spaces.
Safe use
- Use the ramps only on a firm, flat, level surface; avoid gravel, soil, carpet, or slippery surfaces.
- Check the stated load capacity for the set of ramps, and ensure the tyre width is compatible with the ramp's running surface.
- Inspect before each use: no cracks, dents, corrosion, open welds, or loose parts; do not use if any damage is found.
- Clean the contact areas of both the ramps and the ground to remove oil, mud, or sand that could reduce grip.
- Align the ramps with the wheels, parallel to each other, and drive the vehicle up slowly and in a straight line until the end-stop; a helper to guide you can be useful.
- Avoid scraping bumpers or skirts: confirm that the ramp angle and height are suitable for your vehicle.
- Once positioned, apply the footbrake, select P or 1st/Reverse (as appropriate), and apply the parking brake.
- Chock the wheels remaining on the ground firmly with wheel chocks suitable for the vehicle.
- Before working underneath, verify the stability of the set-up with a gentle, controlled shake.
- To descend, remove the chocks and drive down in a straight line, slowly, without turns or sudden acceleration.
Storage and maintenance
- Clean after use to remove oil, grease, and dirt that could reduce traction.
- Periodically check for cracks, deformations, corrosion, or loose parts; if present, stop using and replace.
- Store the ramps in a dry, ventilated place, protected from moisture and prolonged exposure to sun or extreme temperatures.
- Avoid stacking with weights that could deform them; store supported evenly.
- Keep the anti-slip surfaces and end-stops in good condition; replace if worn or damaged.
- Keep the product's load ratings and orientation markings visible.
Usage restrictions
- Do not exceed the load capacity or use with tyres wider than the usable width of the ramp.
- Do not use on slopes, or on ice, mud, grass, carpets, or uneven floors.
- Do not stack, use on their sides, or invert the ramps; do not use them as a step or platform.
- Do not combine with other lifting equipment unless it is clear they are compatible and stable.
- Do not allow passengers inside the vehicle during ascent or descent; keep children and pets away from the work area.
- Do not work with the engine running in enclosed or poorly ventilated spaces.
- Do not use on vehicles that exceed the size or type intended by the manufacturer (e.g. heavy industrial vehicles), or on two-wheeled vehicles unless expressly stated as compatible.
