Usage Warnings

Baby Changing Units

Safety warnings and precautions

Main risks

  • Baby falling from a height due to distractions, sudden movements or unstable surfaces.
  • Furniture tipping over or accidental folding on portable or fold-down models.
  • Slipping on wet surfaces or those with residues of creams and oils.
  • Finger trapping in hinges, latches or gaps in the changing unit.
  • Suffocation from bags, plastic or textile covers that could cover the baby's face.
  • Strangulation by blind cords, drawstrings or nearby cables.
  • Injury from objects falling from nearby shelves, ledges or walls.
  • Skin irritation from using harsh cleaners or from poor rinsing.
  • Contact with excessively hot surfaces from radiators or direct sunlight.

Safe use

  • Have everything you need to hand before placing the baby and always keep one hand on them; never leave them unattended.
  • Place the changing unit on a firm, level and stable surface; lock the castors if fitted.
  • If the product has restraints, adjust them correctly without over-tightening; they do not replace supervision.
  • Avoid using it on beds, sofas or other soft or unstable surfaces.
  • If used on a chest of drawers or table, ensure the surface is sufficiently large and that the changing unit is centred and away from the edges.
  • Keep the area free of small objects, cosmetics and containers the baby could reach or tip over.
  • Keep the changing unit away from windows, radiators, heaters and cords or cables (blinds, chargers).
  • Dry the surface immediately if it gets wet and clean off any cream residue to reduce the risk of slipping.
  • Do not move or fold the changing unit with the baby on it.
  • Check that latches, legs and locking systems are properly engaged before each use.
  • On wall-mounted models, check before each use that the platform is securely fixed and level.

Storage and maintenance

  • Clean with a soft cloth and mild soap; rinse and dry completely before storing.
  • Avoid bleach, solvents or abrasive scourers that may damage surfaces or leave residues.
  • Regularly inspect screws, fixings, hinges, seams and padding; tighten or replace parts if you notice looseness or wear.
  • On inflatable models, check for possible leaks and avoid over-inflation; keep away from sharp objects.
  • Store in a dry, ventilated place, away from damp that could cause mould or odours.
  • Protect from direct sunlight and heat sources to prevent warping and discolouration.
  • Remove and dispose of packaging bags and plastics immediately, out of the reach of children.
  • If the padding is torn, badly indented or slippery, stop using it and replace it.

Usage restrictions

  • For use only under constant adult supervision; it is not a sleeping surface.
  • Observe the weight and age limits specified by the manufacturer.
  • Do not use the changing unit if parts are missing, it is unstable or shows visible damage.
  • Do not hang bags or heavy objects from the sides of the changing unit.
  • Do not place the changing unit near water (bath, shower, swimming pool) or on wet surfaces.
  • Do not use the changing unit as a step, bench or play surface.
  • Do not lift or carry the changing unit with the baby on it, even if it is portable.
  • On wall-mounted or folding models, do not use the product if you notice looseness in the fixings or latches.
