Warnings and safety precautions
Main risks
- Finger entrapment in hinges, adjustment points, pulleys and guides.
- Impact or crush injuries from falling bars, weight plates or stack plates.
- Tipping of the bench or movement of the machine due to an unstable surface or poor placement.
- Muscle, tendon or joint injuries due to improper technique, overloading or forced ranges of motion.
- Breakage or failure of cables, belts, pins, stops or worn welds.
- Slips caused by sweat on grips, damp upholstery or soles with poor traction.
- Impacts to feet and hands when moving heavy equipment without assistance.
- Entanglement of loose clothing, laces or long hair in moving parts.
Safe use
- Carry out a quick pre-use check: bolts, pins and locks secure; weight selector pin fully inserted; do not use the equipment if you detect play, cracks or abnormal friction.
- Place the bench or machine on a flat, stable surface; lock the castors or adjust the levellers if fitted.
- Adjust seat, backrest, stops and grips to your height; check that the pins engage fully before loading weight.
- Keep the path of bars, plates and levers clear; remove objects from the floor around the equipment.
- Increase the load gradually after a warm-up; stop the exercise if you feel sharp pain, dizziness or numbness.
- Use collars on the bars and engage stops/safeties when available; for heavy bench lifts, use a spotter.
- Keep hands, fingers, clothing and hair away from joints and pulleys; avoid loose jewellery.
- Control the movement throughout the range; do not let go of the handles suddenly or drop the weight; always guide the return.
- Keep grips and upholstery dry using a towel; wear footwear with good traction.
Storage and maintenance
- Clean grips and upholstery after each use; wipe away sweat to prevent slipping and corrosion.
- Check cables, pulleys, fasteners and welds periodically; tighten loose components and replace worn or frayed parts.
- Lubricate guide rods and shafts only when appropriate and in the amount specified by the manufacturer; remove any excess to avoid leaving slippery surfaces.
- Check the condition of stops, hooks and locking systems; replace them if they show wear.
- Store weight plates and bars on suitable racks; do not leave loaded bars on the bench or on the floor.
- If the bench is foldable, lock it before moving it; for longer moves, carry out the manoeuvre with two people.
- Keep the equipment in a dry, ventilated place, away from the elements and moisture; avoid extreme temperatures.
- Protect the floor with a non-slip base and check the condition of the levellers.
Usage restrictions
- Use by minors only under adult supervision; keep children and pets away from the training area.
- Do not use under the influence of alcohol, drugs or when noticeably fatigued.
- Do not exceed the load limits stated by the manufacturer, or modify the equipment or remove guards.
- Do not use if the equipment is damaged, unstable or missing any component; stop using it if you notice unusual noises or vibrations.
- Do not use with inappropriate footwear, slippery hands or loose clothing; tie back long hair.
- Do not place hands or feet under loaded bars, plates or levers; do not remain under loads without stops/safeties or without assistance during press exercises.
- Avoid using outdoors in the rain or on wet surfaces.
- If you experience discomfort or a recent injury, reduce the intensity and prioritise controlled movements.
