Usage Warnings
Cable Grommets
Safety warnings and precautions
Main risks
- Cuts or splinters when drilling or cutting the furniture and when handling edges or cable grommet covers.
- Pinched fingers from hinged lids or moving parts.
- Damage to cable insulation due to sharp edges, burrs, forced bends or compression, with possible overheating or failures of connected equipment.
- Trips caused by loose cables if they are not properly routed towards the floor or the skirting board.
- Detachment of the cable grommet due to poor fixing (adhesive or push-fit), causing unintentional strain on the cables.
- Ingress of liquids and spills into the cable area if the hole is left open or without a cover.
- Risk of ingestion or choking from small parts (rings, lids) in children and pets.
- Damage to the furniture from drilling in unsuitable areas or without checking what is behind.
Safe use
- Before installing, check that there are no hidden cables, reinforcements or conduits in the area of the furniture.
- If drilling or routing, use tools in good condition and protection for eyes and hands; work on a stable surface.
- Remove burrs and fit the ring or trim to cover the edges of the hole and prevent chafing on the cables.
- Disconnect equipment from the mains before feeding, reorganising or tensioning the cables.
- Do not force connectors through small openings; if they do not pass with adequate clearance, use a cable grommet of a larger diameter.
- Maintain a generous bend radius and avoid pinching the cables with the lid or the edge.
- Do not overload the opening: leave space for the cables to move without rubbing or being compressed.
- Route the cables neatly towards the side or the floor so that they do not encroach on walkways.
- Avoid contact with liquids and wipe up any spillage around the cable grommet immediately.
- For adhesive models, clean and dry the surface thoroughly and wait for the adhesive to reach maximum bond strength before loading cables.
Storage and maintenance
- Periodically check that there are no cracks, looseness, exposed edges or loose parts.
- Replace the cable grommet if you notice wear, deformation or edges that could cut the insulation.
- Remove dust, fluff and debris that accumulate in the hole, lid or brush to prevent blockages.
- For cleaning, use a dry or slightly damp cloth; avoid aggressive solvents and abrasive scourers.
- Check that the cables are not taut or crushed and readjust their routing if necessary.
- If an adhesive loses adhesion, replace it or change the fixing method; do not let the weight of the cables rest on the cable grommet.
- Store uninstalled parts in a dry, ventilated place, protected from sun and heat.
- Keep small accessories in closed containers, out of the reach of children and pets.
Usage restrictions
- Recommended for use in dry indoor areas; do not install outdoors or in areas with splashes or high humidity unless explicitly specified for the product.
- Do not use the cable grommet to bear weight, hang objects or as a handle.
- Do not pass damaged cables, cables with broken insulation or makeshift splices through the opening.
- Do not place the cable grommet near sources of intense heat, flames or items that reach high temperatures.
- Do not bundle a large number of cables in a single cable grommet if they will be heavily compressed.
- Installation and handling by adults only; ensure supervision when children are nearby.
- Do not modify or drill the cable grommet once installed; if the size is not suitable, replace it with one that fits correctly.
- Avoid making holes in areas very close to edges or joints of fragile furniture; in such cases, consider surface-mount solutions.
