Usage Warnings

Ear Protectors

Warnings and safety precautions

Main risks

  • Hearing damage from insufficient attenuation or from removing protectors in noisy areas.
  • Reduced awareness of your surroundings: it may make it harder to hear alarms, vehicles, machinery or colleagues’ instructions.
  • Loss of seal due to poor fit or interference from hair, glasses arms, jewellery or clothing, which reduces protection.
  • Skin irritation or infections due to poor hygiene, prolonged moisture or sharing protectors.
  • Discomfort from excessive pressure, heat or sweat; possible headaches or fatigue if the fit is inadequate.
  • Deterioration of cushions, foams or headbands from sweat, oils, UV rays or chemicals, reducing effectiveness.
  • Risk of ingestion or choking on small earplugs by children or pets.

Safe use

  • Choose an appropriate attenuation level and type of protector for the noise and duration of exposure, avoiding both under- and overprotection.
  • Read and follow the product-specific fitting and adjustment instructions.
  • Earmuffs: centre the cups over the ears and ensure the cushions make even contact with no gaps. Keep hair and glasses arms out of the seal.
  • Earplugs: handle them with clean hands and insert gently until you achieve a comfortable seal, without forcing. Do not use plugs that are damaged or heavily soiled.
  • Check the fit: you should notice a clear reduction in noise; if not, reposition or try another size or type.
  • Keep the protectors on throughout the entire noise exposure; remove them only in safe, quiet areas.
  • Ensure compatibility with other equipment (helmets, glasses, visors). Prefer thin arms on glasses to minimise leakage.
  • In very high-noise environments, it may be necessary to combine earmuffs and earplugs. Follow the product or workplace guidance.
  • Do not modify the product or add unapproved accessories (perforations, adhesives, homemade padding).
  • If your model includes electronic or audio features, use moderate volumes and ensure you still perceive critical environmental signals.

Storage and maintenance

  • Store them clean and dry in their case or pouch, protected from dust and dirt.
  • Avoid exposure to direct sunlight, extreme temperatures and prolonged humidity.
  • Clean earmuffs with a soft cloth slightly dampened with mild soap; air-dry. Do not use solvents or heat sources.
  • Wash reusable earplugs with warm water and soap; dry them completely before use. Discard disposable ones after use.
  • Allow the product to air out after sweaty or damp work before storing.
  • Regularly check the condition of cushions, foams, headbands and seals. Replace any part that is hardened, cracked, deformed or has lost elasticity.
  • Keep spares (cushions/foams) in their packaging until use.
  • Keep protectors and plugs out of reach of children and pets.

Restrictions of use

  • They do not replace other protective equipment against impacts, dust, chemicals, heat or water.
  • Do not use them when driving, cycling or moving through areas with traffic where you need to hear external signals.
  • Do not share protectors without prior adequate hygiene. Avoid use if you have cuts, irritation or ear pain; discontinue use if discomfort persists.
  • Small earplugs are not suitable for young children and require adult supervision in all cases.
  • Do not use the product if it is dirty, damp, broken or missing parts; replace it immediately.
  • In tasks where communication or hearing alarms is critical, these protectors may not be suitable without additional measures established in the workplace.
