Safety warnings and precautions
Main risks
- Cuts, punctures and abrasion when handling sharp edges, sheet metal, glass or wire.
- Burns from heat, sparks or extreme cold if the glove does not offer adequate protection.
- Skin irritation or allergies due to glove materials, accumulated sweat or contaminants.
- Risk of electric shock when working near energised parts with gloves not intended for that use.
- Loss of grip or dexterity due to incorrect sizing or wet/greasy surfaces.
- Entanglement in moving machine parts if the glove snags or is loose.
- Cross-contamination when reusing dirty or single-use gloves.
Safe use
- Choose a glove type suited to the task (cut, chemical, thermal, dielectric, disposable or reusable).
- Check the size and fit: the glove should allow mobility without being loose or excessively tight.
- Inspect before use: discard if there are cuts, holes, hardening, discolouration or open seams.
- Put gloves on with clean, dry hands; when removing them, avoid touching the outer surface with your skin and wash your hands afterwards.
- For work with chemicals, check material compatibility and avoid prolonged immersion; replace the glove if swelling, stiffness or an abnormal odour occurs.
- When working with machinery, avoid loose gloves near rotating parts and keep clothing close-fitting.
- With electrical risk, keep gloves dry and do not touch energised parts unless you are using gloves specifically designed for that purpose and in good condition.
- When exposed to heat or cold, bring your hand closer gradually to check the protection and do not expose the glove to an open flame unless it is designed for it.
Storage and maintenance
- Store gloves clean and dry, in a ventilated place, away from direct sunlight, heat sources and chemical vapours.
- Air-dry without applying direct heat; do not use radiators or flames.
- Clean according to the manufacturer's instructions; avoid strong solvents or bleach unless expressly indicated.
- Separate by use (chemicals, general handling, food) to prevent cross-contamination.
- Keep pairs together and do not crush or over-fold them to avoid damaging coatings.
- Check their condition periodically and replace if there is wear, loss of grip, cracks or a persistent bad odour.
- Single-use gloves must be disposed of after the task; do not wash or reuse them.
Restrictions on use
- They are not a substitute for machine guards or other protective equipment.
- Do not use with live electricity, open flames, molten metal or corrosive substances unless the glove is clearly indicated for that hazard.
- Do not modify, pierce or trim the gloves; they would lose their protective capability.
- Do not share gloves for work with biological or chemical risk; prioritise individual, hygienic use.
- Remove the gloves if liquid enters, they become damp inside or irritation appears; if you suspect a latex allergy, choose alternative materials.
- Do not use beyond the service life indicated by the manufacturer or if the packaging shows deterioration.
- Do not use them in contact with food unless expressly stated as suitable for food contact.
