Safety warnings and precautions
Main risks
- Entrapment in the drum and moving parts (gears, belts, levers).
- Tipping over due to an unstable surface, overloading or sudden manoeuvres.
- Electric shock from damaged cables or connections exposed to moisture (electric models).
- Splashes and flying aggregates; irritation and chemical burns from contact with wet cement, especially to the eyes and skin.
- Inhalation of cement and aggregate dust, posing a respiratory risk.
- Noise and vibration that can cause fatigue or hearing loss with prolonged exposure.
- Carbon monoxide poisoning and fire risk when using combustion engines in poorly ventilated areas or near flames.
- Slips and falls due to water, slurry spills or obstacles in the work area.
Safe use
- Before starting, check that the cement mixer is in good overall condition, with guards and fastenings correctly fitted.
- Place it on a firm, level surface; lock or chock the wheels to prevent movement.
- Mark off the work area and maintain a safe distance around the equipment, free from loose cables and obstacles.
- Wear appropriate personal protective equipment: durable gloves, safety goggles or a face shield, respiratory protection when handling dust, safety footwear and hearing protection if noise levels are high.
- Keep clothing close-fitting and hair tied back; avoid jewellery and loose garments that could get caught.
- Use electrical power supplies in good condition, suitable for outdoor use and protected against moisture; do not pull the cable to move the machine.
- Do not insert hands, tools or shovels into the drum while it is running; switch off and unplug before clearing blockages or making adjustments.
- Load materials gradually and evenly; avoid overloading the drum and sudden movements while tipping.
- Reduce dust and splashes by adding water slowly and pouring bags carefully.
- For models with combustion engines: use only outdoors or in very well-ventilated areas; switch off the engine before refuelling and keep fuel away from heat sources or sparks.
Storage and maintenance
- Switch off, disconnect from the power supply and wait until it has come to a complete stop before cleaning or making any adjustments.
- Remove leftover mix before it hardens to prevent blockages and excessive motor strain.
- Do not use tools or products that could damage the drum or blades during cleaning.
- Frequently check the condition of cables, plugs, switches, belts, fixings and guards; replace any worn or damaged parts.
- Lubricate and adjust only according to the manufacturer’s instructions and with compatible spare parts.
- Store the cement mixer clean, dry and under cover; protect connections and cables from moisture and impacts.
- Lock the wheels and leave the drum in a stable position when not in use.
- Keep the work area clear of debris and puddles to prevent falls.
Restrictions on use
- For use exclusively by competent adults; keep children and pets away at all times.
- Do not use indoors without adequate ventilation or in confined spaces.
- Do not operate in heavy rain, during electrical storms, or on scaffolding or unstable surfaces.
- Do not exceed the load capacity specified by the manufacturer, nor use it to mix flammable or corrosive substances or food.
- Do not modify or bypass guards, switches or safety systems.
- Do not transport people or move with the drum loaded on steep ramps.
- Stop use if you notice unusual noises, excessive vibration, sparks or a burning smell, and check the equipment before continuing.
- Do not use if you are tired, under the influence of alcohol, drugs or medication that reduces alertness.
