Safety warnings and precautions
Main risks
- Trapping and cuts from moving parts (carriage, rollers) and from built-in blades on some models.
- Electric shock or overheating due to damaged cables, improper connections or the presence of moisture.
- Inhalation of vapours or odours from inks and eye or skin irritation from contact with ink or cleaners.
- Ink spills that can cause slippery floors and stubborn stains.
- Falls or tip-overs when moving or assembling the equipment; strain when lifting heavy rolls.
- Media jams that, if forced, can damage printheads or blades.
- Unlikely fire risk if ventilation grilles are blocked or dust and paper accumulate near heat sources.
- Cuts when handling large sheets or material edges.
- Tripping hazards from loose cables or extended trays/stands.
Safe use
- Place the plotter on a stable, level surface; secure or lock the stand and its castors if fitted.
- Leave sufficient space around it for ventilation and access; do not cover grilles or air outlets.
- Connect to an earthed outlet with adequate capacity; avoid overloaded extension leads and damaged cables; do not operate or handle it with wet hands.
- Keep cabling tidy and out of walkways; use guides or cable ties where appropriate.
- Keep hands away from the carriage, rollers and blades during operation; stop the equipment before clearing jams.
- Load rolls and media with good posture; if heavy, do so with two people; keep fingers away from shafts and clamps.
- Handle inks and cleaners in a ventilated area; wear disposable gloves when changing cartridges or cleaning spills; avoid contact with eyes and skin.
- Use compatible consumables recommended for your model to reduce jams, leaks and unnecessary emissions.
- Monitor the first prints and long runs; if unusual noise, vibration, heat or odours occur, pause and check.
- Keep liquids, food and loose objects away from the equipment.
Storage and maintenance
- Switch off and unplug before cleaning, moving or servicing; wait for moving parts to stop.
- Clean the exterior with a soft, dry cloth; avoid flammable aerosols and solvents not recommended.
- Remove media remnants with the equipment switched off and, if blades are present, using appropriate tools; keep hands away from the cutting edge.
- Keep air inlets and outlets free of dust; gently vacuum the area to reduce lint.
- Deal with ink spills immediately; ventilate the area and dispose of absorbent materials according to the manufacturer's instructions.
- Store sealed ink cartridges in the indicated orientation, away from heat, frost and direct sunlight.
- Store paper and media in a dry, flat and clean place to prevent curling and jams.
- If transporting the plotter, lock the carriage/printhead if supported by the model, secure moving parts and use protective packaging; do not tip it over.
- Periodically check cables, connectors, stand castors and fasteners; do not use the equipment if you detect visible damage.
Restrictions of use
- Intended for adult use; keep out of reach of children and pets; in educational settings, always under supervision.
- Do not use outdoors or in damp areas, where there is airborne dust, flammable vapours or near open flames and heat sources.
- Do not print on incompatible materials, or on media that are excessively thick or rigid if the equipment is not designed for it.
- Do not block air outlets or place objects on top of the plotter.
- Do not modify the equipment, disable sensors, remove guards or open covers; internal interventions must be carried out by qualified service personnel.
- Do not move the plotter during printing or transport it held by moving parts or covers.
- Do not use with damaged cables, plugs or adapters; do not pull the cable to unplug.
- Do not smoke or use aerosols or solvents nearby; ensure adequate ventilation, especially with strong-odour inks.
- Do not leave the equipment running unattended for prolonged periods in enclosed spaces.
