Usage Warnings

Popcorn Makers

Warnings and safety precautions

Main risks

  • Burns from contact with hot surfaces, steam or hot air and, in some models, from hot oil.
  • Ejection of kernels or popcorn if overfilled or if the lid/chute is not properly fitted.
  • Smoke or ignition due to grease/sugar residues, use of non-recommended ingredients, or blocked air vents.
  • Electrical risk from damaged cable or plug, wet sockets, or spills on the base.
  • Appliance tipping and hot spills if placed on unstable surfaces or near the edge.
  • Burning odour and deterioration of the appliance from prolonged operation without breaks.
  • Choking or dental injury from unpopped kernels.

Safe use

  • Place the popcorn maker on a flat, dry, heat-resistant surface, with clear space around it for ventilation.
  • Observe the maximum quantity of popcorn kernels and the types of ingredients permitted for your model; in hot-air models do not add butter, sugar or syrups inside the appliance.
  • Assemble and fit the lid, bowl and chute correctly; aim the outlet towards a large, stable bowl.
  • Keep hands and face away from the outlet during operation; use oven gloves or insulated handles when handling hot parts.
  • Do not leave the appliance unattended; if smoke or a strong burning odour appears, switch off and unplug.
  • Allow to cool between batches as recommended by the manufacturer to prevent overheating.
  • Use only dry popcorn kernels; do not add water or other grains.
  • Manage the cable to avoid tugs: keep it away from edges and heat sources, and unplug by pulling the plug, not the cable.
  • Keep children and pets away while in use.

Storage and maintenance

  • Switch off, unplug and allow to cool completely before cleaning or moving.
  • Do not immerse the base or parts with electrical components; clean the exterior with a slightly damp cloth and dry thoroughly.
  • Remove leftover kernels, salt and grease after each use; clean the lid and accessories with warm water and mild detergent, without abrasive scourers.
  • Ensure the grilles and air outlets are free of obstructions before each use.
  • Periodically check the cable, plug and parts; if they are damaged or deformed, do not use the appliance.
  • Store in a dry, ventilated place, away from moisture and dust; keep the cable coiled without straining it or bending it excessively.
  • Assemble all parts correctly before the next use.

Usage restrictions

  • For indoor use on worktops; do not use near sinks, wet areas or outdoors in rain or damp conditions.
  • Do not operate the popcorn maker without a lid/cover when the model requires it.
  • Do not cover the air outlets or place cloths, paper or utensils on the appliance during operation.
  • Do not use sticky or sugary ingredients in hot-air appliances; add them only after making the popcorn.
  • Avoid overloaded power strips and coiled extension leads; connect to a sound mains socket.
  • Do not use the appliance if parts are missing, cracked or do not fit correctly.
  • Not a toy: children only under the supervision of a responsible adult.
  • Keep clear of flammable materials and of low furniture or cupboards to prevent the build-up of heat and steam.
