Safety warnings and precautions

Main risks

  • Finger pinching when opening, closing or adjusting the height at hinges and folding points.
  • Tipping over or collapse if the mechanism is not properly locked or if used on uneven surfaces.
  • Burns from contact with the hot iron or steam.
  • Fire risk if the iron is left soleplate-down on the cover or near textiles.
  • Trips and falls due to leads trailing across walkways or water/condensation on the floor.
  • Instability due to missing or worn non-slip feet.
  • Damage to delicate floors from slipping or unprotected feet.

Safe use

  • Open and fold by holding the frame; keep fingers clear of hinges and catches.
  • Ensure the locking mechanism is fully engaged before placing the iron.
  • Place the board on a firm, level surface, and adjust the height with no load on it.
  • Use the designated iron rest; never leave the iron unattended and always in a stable position.
  • Keep clear of curtains, tablecloths or other textiles that could touch the hot surface.
  • Route the iron lead to the rear or side to avoid snags and trips.
  • If your model includes a holder for the iron or a steam generator, use it as per the manufacturer’s instructions.
  • Do not move the board with the iron on it or when the iron is hot.
  • Keep flammable aerosols and heat sources away while ironing.

Storage and maintenance

  • Allow the iron and surface to cool completely before folding or storing.
  • Engage the safety catch or close the retaining strap when storing to prevent accidental opening.
  • Store in a dry, ventilated place, away from moisture and heat sources.
  • Wipe up any water drips or condensation to prevent slipping and corrosion.
  • Periodically check screws, rivets, leg stability and the condition of the non-slip feet.
  • Replace the cover if it is scorched, loose or heavily worn.
  • Clean the frame with a soft cloth and the board only when cool; avoid abrasive products.

Usage restrictions

  • Domestic use for ironing garments; do not use as a ladder, bench, seat or support for people.
  • Do not overload with appliances or weights beyond the manufacturer’s recommendations.
  • Do not use outdoors in windy conditions or on unstable surfaces.
  • Keep out of reach of children and pets during use; close supervision is required if children are nearby.
  • Do not modify the structure or carry out makeshift repairs to legs, hinges or catches.
  • Stop using it if you notice looseness, deformation, cracks or loss of stability.
