Safety warnings and precautions

Main risks

  • Fire from open flame and contact with nearby combustible materials.
  • Burns from hot surfaces and from the flame, which may be hard to see in daylight.
  • Carbon monoxide poisoning and asphyxiation in enclosed or poorly ventilated spaces.
  • Explosion or deflagration from gas leaks or cartridge overheating (direct sun, wrap-around windscreens).
  • Tipping of the stove or pot due to an unstable base or oversized cookware.
  • Flame being blown by wind towards the cartridge, the hose, or nearby items.
  • Risk during transport if the valve is left open or the equipment is still hot.

Safe use

  • Use only outdoors or in well-ventilated areas; never inside tents, vehicles, or enclosed spaces.
  • Place the stove on a stable, level, non-flammable surface; remove leaves, paper, and combustible materials from the area.
  • Check that seals and threads are clean and intact; always connect and disconnect with the valve closed.
  • Check for leaks with soapy water; if you smell gas or hear a hissing sound, do not ignite, close the valve, and ventilate.
  • Keep clear space around and above; shield from the wind to prevent the flame from being blown off course.
  • Use cookware suited to the support; do not move the stove or the pot while they are lit or hot.
  • Light by opening the valve gradually and do not leave the stove unattended.
  • If using windscreens, they must not enclose the cartridge and must allow adequate ventilation; avoid the flame or heat reaching the cartridge or hose.
  • When finished, fully close the valve and allow it to cool before touching, disassembling, or storing.

Storage and maintenance

  • Store stove and cartridges in a cool, dry, ventilated place, away from direct sun, heat sources, and flames.
  • Transport with the cartridge disconnected and with its protective caps fitted; avoid impacts, punctures, and crushing.
  • Keep cartridges upright and away from sharp or corrosive objects.
  • Clean the burner and gas outlet ports of dust, sand, and grease with a soft brush; do not use objects that could deform them.
  • Periodically check seals, hoses, and connections; replace any component that is damaged, cracked, or hardened.
  • Do not lubricate threads or seals with oils or grease.
  • Store the stove clean and completely dry to prevent corrosion and blockages.

Restrictions on use

  • Do not use to heat spaces or to dry clothing or equipment.
  • Do not use with fuels or cartridges not specified by the manufacturer, with incompatible adapters, or with modified parts.
  • Do not use cartridges that are dented, rusted, showing signs of leakage, overheated, or past their expiry date, if applicable.
  • Do not cover or wrap the stove or cartridge with windscreens, oversized pots, or items that trap heat.
  • Do not use on unstable surfaces or on surfaces that could melt.
  • Keep out of reach of children and pets; for use by adults only with appropriate supervision.
  • Do not pierce, burn, or throw cartridges into the fire, even when empty.
