Main risks

• Pinches or knocks to fingers when closing the padlock shackle.
• Cuts from sharp metal edges or associated chains/clamps.
• Accidental confinement in storage rooms, lockers or rooms if the door is locked with someone inside.
• Blocking of exits or access points needed in an emergency if fitted in unsuitable locations.
• Loss of keys or forgetting the combination, which may lead to forcing the padlock with tools and causing injury.
• Corrosion, dirt or ice immobilising the mechanism and causing breakages or failure to open/close.
• Risk of children or pets ingesting or choking on keys or small parts.
• Dropping the padlock from height during handling, with the possibility of impacts to feet or hands.

Safe use

• Check that the shackle diameter and the fitting are compatible; do not force closing or the turning of the key or dials.
• Keep fingers away from the shackle and mechanism when closing to avoid pinching.
• Ensure the padlock opens and closes smoothly before leaving it installed.
• Keep a spare set of keys or the combination written down in a secure place separate from the locking point.
• If the padlock uses a combination, change the initial code, avoid obvious codes, and rotate the dials to conceal it after locking.
• Do not leave the key inserted or dangling; remove it and store it immediately.
• Avoid locking doors or occupied areas; ensure there is an alternative means of access before locking.
• If the mechanism is jammed, do not strike it or apply leverage; use lock-specific products as per the manufacturer's instructions or contact a locksmith.
• Do not use direct heat or flames to defrost; this could deform the mechanism and cause burns.
• Do not use the padlock as an anchorage point for lifting loads, dragging, climbing, or securing people or animals.

Storage and maintenance

• Store unused padlocks in a dry, ventilated place, away from moisture and dust.
• After exposure to rain or salt spray, rinse with fresh water, dry thoroughly and operate the shackle to expel moisture.
• Lubricate periodically with lock-specific products recommended by the manufacturer; avoid heavy greases that attract dirt.
• Regularly inspect for rust, looseness, cracks or difficulty turning; replace the padlock if you observe damage.
• Keep keys and cards/codes in a safe place, without labels that identify the lock's location.
• Outdoors, use covers or caps where possible to protect the keyway or dials.
• Avoid abrasive or corrosive cleaners that may damage the finish or mechanism.

Usage restrictions

• Not suitable for suspending or lifting loads, climbing, or as personal protective equipment.
• Do not use padlocks to block emergency exits or access points that must remain available in the event of evacuation.
• Do not allow handling by children; keep keys and combinations out of their reach.
• Do not modify, drill or sand the padlock; this could compromise its operation.
• Do not openly share combinations or photos of keys; change the combination or replace the padlock if you lose a key or suspect it has been copied.
• Do not use the padlock outside the environmental conditions specified by the manufacturer (temperature, humidity, exposure to the elements).
