Safety warnings and precautions

Main hazards

  • Entrapment and crushing between the rollers and the workpiece, or against fences and tables.
  • Ejection or sudden kickback of the wood if alignment, pressure or speed are inadequate, or if the workpiece is small, irregular or has defects.
  • Contact with rotating or drive parts if guards are removed or damaged.
  • Electrical hazard due to damaged cables, loose connections, unsuitable plugs or moisture.
  • Instability or tipping of the feeder due to poor fastening, loose supports or an improperly locked arm.
  • Loss of grip and slippage due to dirty, worn or dust- and resin-contaminated rollers.
  • Noise and vibration that can fatigue the user and loosen fixings over time.

Safe use

  • Secure the feeder firmly to a compatible machine and lock bases and arms before switching on.
  • Before adjusting height, angle, pressure or position, disconnect from the mains and wait for a complete stop.
  • Align the rollers with the feed direction and adjust the pressure to hold without deforming; select an appropriate speed and direction and make a test pass with an offcut.
  • Keep hands, tools and clothing away from the roller line; do not guide the workpiece by hand while the feeder is running, or lift guards during use.
  • Check that the wood is straight and free of nails, staples, loose knots, cracks or excessive moisture; use fences and stops to stabilise the workpiece.
  • Avoid pieces that are too short, narrow or irregular to be held securely by the rollers.
  • Wear safety glasses and, where appropriate, hearing protection and a mask; wear close-fitting clothing, tie back hair and do not wear loose gloves or jewellery.
  • Keep the outfeed area clear so the workpiece does not strike anything or tip at the end of the feed.

Storage and maintenance

  • Disconnect from the mains before cleaning, adjusting or replacing components.
  • Clean rollers and housing to remove dust and resin with suitable products; avoid harsh solvents.
  • Check roller wear, play, and the condition of fasteners, clamps and supports; re-tighten and replace damaged parts.
  • Inspect the cable, plug and switch; do not use the equipment if you notice cuts, abnormal heating or a burning smell.
  • Verify that guards and drive covers are complete and securely fixed.
  • Lubricate only the points specified by the manufacturer, taking care to prevent lubricant from reaching the rollers.
  • Store in a dry, stable place, protected from dust; if not used for a prolonged period, release pressure from the rollers to prevent deformation; do not carry it or hang it by the cable.

Restrictions on use

  • Use restricted to adults familiar with woodworking machines; keep children and pets away and establish supervision in shared workshops.
  • Do not use the feeder if it is not firmly anchored to the machine or if guards are missing.
  • Do not use the equipment with materials for which it is not designed (for example, metals, very soft or brittle materials, very slippery surfaces or wet wood), unless expressly indicated by the manufacturer.
  • Do not operate in wet environments or in the rain; avoid atmospheres with very dense suspended dust without adequate extraction or that are potentially explosive.
  • Do not modify the equipment or bypass switches, limiters or safeguards; do not stall the motor by locking the rollers.
  • Do not exceed size or weight capacities; observe the minimum lengths recommended by the manufacturer for each operation.
  • Do not move or reposition the arm with the rollers in contact with the table while the motor is running.
