Usage Warnings
Wash-basin and Bidet Traps
Safety warnings and precautions
Main risks
- Water leaks due to incorrectly fitted seals, damaged parts, or over-tightening that can crack components.
- Moisture damage to furniture and floors if dripping is not detected in time.
- Odours and gas backflow if the trap loses its water seal, is installed incorrectly, or remains unused for a long time.
- Blockages caused by hair, soap, limescale or objects, with possible overflow of the basin or bidet.
- Contact with wastewater during disassembly or cleaning, posing a hygiene risk.
- Irritation or hazardous splashes due to improper use of chemical drain cleaners.
- Minor burns from very hot water when opening the trap after use.
- Cuts on sharp metal edges or from tools, and slips due to spills.
Safe use
- Check the trap's compatibility with the type of washbasin or bidet and the connection diameters before installation.
- Position the parts without forcing and align the connections; avoid twisting and strain on the joints.
- Fit the seals in the correct position and orientation; hand-tighten only and do not over-tighten to avoid damaging threads or parts.
- During disassembly or cleaning, place a bucket or cloth underneath; open slowly to drain any retained water.
- After installation, run water for several minutes and visually check that there are no drips or odours at any joint.
- Do not pour oils, paints, plaster, solvents or objects down the drain that could block or damage the trap.
- If using chemical drain cleaners, follow the product instructions, do not mix chemicals, ventilate the bathroom, and protect hands and eyes.
- In the event of a blockage, prioritise accessible mechanical methods and careful disassembly of the trap where possible.
- If the bathroom is left unused for some time, run water periodically to maintain the trap's water seal and prevent odours.
- Avoid impacts or placing loads on the trap when storing items in the vanity unit.
Storage and maintenance
- Store parts and spares in a dry place, protected from direct sunlight and heat; keep seals and threads clean.
- Check periodically that there are no drips; if any occur, check the seating of the seals and the tightness without over-tightening.
- Clean the inside of the trap periodically to remove hair and sediments using warm water and a mild detergent.
- Avoid pouring boiling water into plastic traps and frequent use of harsh chemicals that degrade seals.
- Replace seals or parts that are deformed, hardened or cracked to prevent leaks and bad odours.
- In cold areas, protect exposed installations against frost to prevent breakage due to freezing.
Restrictions of use
- Intended solely for the drainage of washbasins and bidets; not suitable for conveying drinking water or other fluids.
- Do not modify, drill or cut the trap; use only parts and seals compatible with the model.
- Do not subject it to prolonged exposure to very hot water, grease or solvents that may damage plastics or seals.
- Do not install outdoors or in locations without access for inspection and basic maintenance, unless adequately protected.
- Do not lean on or hang objects from the trap or its connections.
- Keep small parts out of the reach of children during installation and maintenance.
