Shower Column Extensions
Safety warnings and precautions
Main risks
- Water leaks due to insufficient sealing or poorly tightened connections.
- Detachment of the shower column if the anchors or fixings are not suitable for the wall type.
- Damage to tiles or concealed pipework when drilling or screwing.
- Slips due to water accumulation during installation or testing.
- Burns from contact with hot water when performing tests or purging.
- Cuts or pinching injuries when handling metal parts or tools.
- Corrosion or wear that could compromise watertightness and stability over time.
Safe use
- Check the extender is compatible with your shower column (dimensions, fixings and supported weight).
- Shut off the stopcock and release the pressure from the pipes before installing or adjusting.
- Follow the manufacturer's instructions and use appropriate gaskets and sealing components, avoiding over-tightening the threads.
- Align and level the assembly; use appropriate anchors for the wall material to ensure a secure hold.
- Before drilling, check for the possible presence of concealed pipework and protect the tiles to prevent cracking.
- Turn on the water gradually and visually check for possible leaks at all joints.
- Do not use the extender as a grab handle or hang objects from it; it is not designed to bear additional loads.
- Keep the area dry and tidy during installation to reduce the risk of slipping.
Storage and maintenance
- Store the product in a dry place and protected from knocks; keep the gaskets clean and free from deformation.
- Avoid impacts that could damage threads, finishes or sealing surfaces.
- Clean with a soft cloth and mild, neutral soap; avoid abrasive scourers and harsh chemicals that could damage the parts.
- Periodically check the tightness of screws and the condition of gaskets and joints; replace worn components.
- At any sign of leakage, corrosion or abnormal movement, shut off the water and resolve the issue before continuing to use the shower.
- Promote bathroom ventilation to reduce condensation and limescale build-up.
Restrictions on use
- Do not modify, drill or alter the extender; use only the accessories specified by the manufacturer.
- Do not install on cracked, hollow or unstable walls without appropriate fixings.
- Do not use the product if you notice cracked parts, damaged threads or hardened gaskets.
- Observe the pressure and temperature limits recommended by the manufacturer of the column and of the extender.
- Keep small parts and tools out of the reach of children; do not allow them to handle the installation.
- If you are unsure of the wall type, the routing of pipework, or do not have the appropriate tools, consider hiring a qualified installer.
