Usage Warnings
Furniture Knobs and Handles
Safety warnings and precautions
Main risks
- Cuts or scratches from sharp edges, splinters in wooden parts, or breakage of ceramic or glass knobs.
- Finger trapping when opening or closing if the knob or handle is loose or detaches.
- Choking or accidental ingestion of small parts (screws, caps, decorative covers) in the presence of children or pets.
- Damage to the furniture due to poorly positioned drilling or over-tightening that may crack the surface.
- Impacts or dropping of drawers/doors if the handle fails under improper load.
- Possible skin irritation in people sensitive to certain metals or surface finishes.
- Scratches on walls or other furniture if the handle protrudes and strikes when opening.
Safe use
- Check compatibility with the furniture: centre-to-centre hole spacing (if applicable), door or drawer front thickness, and screw length.
- Before drilling, check that there are no cables, runners or hidden fittings in the area; measure and mark accurately to avoid misaligned holes.
- Tighten screws moderately and evenly; avoid impact tools and stop if you notice creaking or deformation.
- Ensure screws do not protrude into the inside of the drawer or cabinet to prevent snags or cuts.
- Pull and push in line with the handle's axis; do not hang bags or heavy objects from the knob.
- Check firmness after installation and periodically; re-tighten if you detect looseness or vibrations.
- Handle ceramic or glass knobs with particular care to avoid impacts and sudden temperature changes.
- Clean with a soft, slightly damp cloth; avoid scouring pads, abrasive products, bleach or solvents that may damage the finish.
Storage and maintenance
- Store knobs, handles and uninstalled fixings in a closed container, out of reach of children and pets.
- Keep parts in a dry, ventilated place to reduce the risk of corrosion or oxidation.
- Carry out periodic inspections, especially on heavily used furniture, to check tightness and the condition of the parts.
- Replace immediately any component that is damaged, cracked, deformed or rusted.
- Regularly remove dust and grease (for example, in kitchens) to improve grip and prevent slipping.
- Protect the furniture during maintenance tasks to avoid scratching surfaces (for example, by using a cloth between the tool and the finish).
Usage restrictions
- Installation and handling of small parts only by adults; keep children away during assembly.
- Do not use knobs or handles as safety handholds, grab rails, or to support body weight.
- Do not hang heavy loads from handles; their function is to operate doors and drawers.
- Do not use outdoors or in high-humidity areas unless the product explicitly states it is suitable for this.
- Avoid using screws or fixings with thread or length incompatible with the furniture or the handle.
- If there are people with metal sensitivities, avoid prolonged contact with finishes that may cause irritation and consider suitable alternatives.
