Safety warnings and precautions

Main risks

  • Falls during installation on roofs, facades or masts.
  • Electrocution from contact with overhead power lines or from handling cables, connectors or power supplies.
  • Power surges and lightning strikes that can damage connected equipment.
  • Impacts or injuries from the antenna or mast falling due to inadequate fixings or gusts of wind.
  • Cuts or punctures from edges, rods and sheet metal.
  • Water ingress through poorly sealed drill holes and feed-throughs, with a risk of electrical and structural damage.
  • Trips due to loose or poorly routed cabling.
  • Unnecessary radiofrequency exposure if the antenna is transmitting at close range.
  • Risk of overheating or fire due to faulty connections or short circuits.

Safe use

  • Read and follow the manufacturer's instructions and use only compatible accessories.
  • Before installing or handling, disconnect power to receivers, amplifiers and other associated equipment.
  • Work only in settled weather; avoid strong winds, rain or storms.
  • Keep a safe distance from power lines. When transporting masts or long antennas, watch for overhead hazards.
  • Use appropriate personal protective equipment (gloves, non-slip footwear and, where applicable, a harness for working at height).
  • Use masts, clamps and anchors suitable for the mounting surface and check tightness and stability before releasing the antenna.
  • Do not overload the mast with more antennas or accessories than it can support.
  • Route and secure the coaxial cable, avoiding crushing, tight bends and walkways. Keep cables away from sharp edges.
  • Outdoors, correctly seal feed-throughs and connectors to prevent water ingress and route cables to form a drip loop.
  • Where applicable, use surge protectors and ensure the system is properly earthed.
  • Do not open or modify housings, amplifiers or power supplies. Do not handle the antenna if a nearby transmitting device is active; keep your distance if the antenna is transmitting.

Storage and maintenance

  • Disconnect from the mains and from equipment before any inspection or cleaning.
  • Carry out periodic inspections of the mast, anchors, cables, connectors and seals. Re-tighten fixings and replace corroded, cracked or loose components.
  • Clean with a dry cloth. Avoid high-pressure water, solvents and abrasive products.
  • Protect outdoor connectors with suitable covers or tapes and renew deteriorated seals.
  • After storms or strong winds, check for movement or looseness.
  • Ensure sufficient ventilation around amplifiers or power supplies and do not cover them.
  • Store components and spare parts in a dry, ventilated place, away from moisture and sources of heat.
  • Do not work on the installation during thunderstorms.

Usage restrictions

  • Do not use the antenna or mast as an anchoring point, a support for hanging objects or a handrail.
  • Do not allow children or pets to climb on or tamper with the antenna, cables or mast.
  • Do not install on structures that are unstable, deteriorated or that cannot withstand the expected load and wind.
  • Do not use or install electrical equipment in areas with moisture or splashes unless specifically rated for it.
  • Avoid routing cables through doors or windows where they can be pinched or cut.
  • If you lack the means and training for working at height, do not carry out the installation on roofs or facades.
  • Do not modify circuits, amplifiers or connectors, nor make improvised splices in the cabling.
