Safety warnings and precautions
Main risks
- Ingestion of small parts, especially magnets and button batteries, with a risk of serious injury.
- Finger trapping or pinching when handling strong magnets.
- Interference from magnets with pacemakers, defibrillators and other sensitive electronic devices.
- Device falls due to poorly installed fixings or adhesives, potentially causing damage or injury.
- Risk of electric shock when handling wiring or connected power supplies.
- Overheating, leakage or explosion of batteries due to improper use or heat exposure.
- Erratic operation or false alarms due to poor placement (vibrations, draughts, metallic surfaces, pets).
- Possible noise nuisance if sirens associated with the system are activated during testing.
Safe use
- Read the manufacturer's instructions and verify compatibility with your system before installation.
- Disconnect power before working on any wiring or power source.
- Mount the magnetic contacts, aligning the sensor and magnet as specified by the product, on clean, firm surfaces.
- Avoid installing near heat sources, direct moisture, strong vibrations or large metal masses that could affect the sensor.
- Use appropriate fixings: screws wherever possible; if using adhesive, clean the surface thoroughly and observe curing times.
- Keep magnets away from magnetic cards, electronic keys, hard drives and mechanical watches.
- Handle batteries correctly: use the recommended type and correct polarity; do not mix new and used batteries or recharge non-rechargeable batteries.
- Test operation after installation and periodically (e.g., using the test button or by opening/closing the door or window).
- If the product allows, adjust sensitivity and placement to reduce false alarms.
Storage and maintenance
- Store magnets and detectors in a dry, ventilated place, away from heat, moisture and dust.
- Keep magnets with spacers or in protective packaging to prevent impacts and demagnetisation from heat.
- Periodically check fixings, alignment and housing condition; replace deteriorated adhesives and tighten loose screws.
- Check the battery level regularly and replace it when the device indicates or if faults are detected; remove the batteries if the product will not be used for an extended period.
- Clean with a dry or slightly damp cloth; do not use abrasive products or cover the sensor's lenses or slots.
- Protect wiring from pulls and bends; avoid impacts to the magnetic contacts.
- Dispose of batteries and devices at appropriate collection points at end of life.
Restrictions of use
- Not a toy: keep magnets, batteries and small parts out of the reach of children and pets.
- People with pacemakers or other implants sensitive to magnetic fields should keep a safe distance from strong magnets.
- Do not modify, drill or open sealed units; this may cause failures and loss of performance.
- Do not use outdoors or in damp areas unless the product is specifically designed for it.
- Do not place magnets on bank cards, electronic keys, storage devices or compasses.
- Do not install on unstable or dirty surfaces, or on surfaces with flaking paint, that could compromise the fixing.
- If the installation requires connection to the mains or integration with existing wired systems and you do not have sufficient knowledge, seek professional installation.
- During tests with linked sirens, protect your hearing and inform those nearby.
