Safety warnings and precautions
Main risks
- Skin and eye irritation; possible allergic reactions or respiratory sensitisation during mixing and application.
- Release of vapours and odours; risk of dizziness or headache in poorly ventilated areas.
- Flammability of the product and its solvents; risk of ignition from sparks, flames or cigarettes.
- Rapid heating and gas release when mixing large volumes; possible pressure build-up in the container.
- Very slippery surface during application and while wet or freshly cured.
- Adhesion failure, bubbles or cracks if the substrate is damp, dirty or unstable.
- Environmental damage and persistent staining in the event of uncontained spills.
- Sanding dust during repairs or between coats; possible irritation of the respiratory tract.
Safe use
- Check the instructions on the packaging and perform a test in a discreet area to confirm compatibility and finish.
- Ensure constant ventilation; open doors/windows or use local extraction where appropriate.
- Wear chemical-resistant gloves, protective goggles, long-sleeved clothing and a suitable respirator for vapours/particles as appropriate to the product.
- Remove sources of ignition: do not smoke and keep flames, sparks and any tools that could generate them away from the work area.
- Prepare the substrate clean, dry and sound; remove dust, grease and loose coatings.
- Measure and mix only the amount you can apply within the indicated working time; mix at low speed and spread the material immediately. Avoid leaving large volumes in the bucket.
- Observe the drying and curing times between coats; avoid dust-carrying draughts and insects over the fresh surface.
- Cordon off the area; keep people, children and pets away during application and initial curing; signpost wet floors.
- In areas prone to moisture or heavy traffic, consider using compatible anti-slip additives recommended by the manufacturer.
- In case of contact with skin or eyes, rinse with plenty of water; if persistent symptoms appear after inhalation of vapours or dust, seek medical attention.
Storage and maintenance
- Keep containers tightly closed, in their original packaging, in a cool, dry and ventilated place, protected from direct sunlight, heat, frost and moisture.
- Keep containers away from sources of ignition and from food or feed; keep out of the reach of children.
- After use, close immediately to limit the ingress of air or moisture; clean tools as indicated in the product instructions.
- Do not decant into unlabelled containers; check the expiry date before applying.
- In the event of a spill, ventilate, contain with absorbent material and prevent it reaching drains; manage waste safely.
- For the applied flooring, clean with pH-neutral products; avoid aggressive solvents, abrasive scourers and high-pressure jets.
- Protect the finish by placing felt pads under furniture and avoiding dragging; treat oil stains or other colourants immediately.
- Periodically inspect high-wear areas and plan maintenance recoating when gloss or anti-slip texture diminishes.
Restrictions of use
- Do not apply on substrates that are wet, affected by rising damp, or under rain/condensation.
- Do not use in enclosed spaces without adequate ventilation nor near open flames or hot work.
- Do not mix with other coatings, solvents or additives not indicated by the manufacturer; do not over-dilute.
- Avoid excessively thick coats in a single pass or application outside the temperature and humidity ranges recommended for the product.
- Do not walk on, wash or cover the area until the cure indicated for pedestrian or vehicular traffic has been reached.
- Do not use on surfaces in direct contact with food or drinking water, or in swimming pools or aquariums, unless the product specifies such suitability.
- People with asthma, skin allergies or sensitivity to vapours should avoid exposure during mixing, application and sanding.
- On floors with underfloor heating, switch it off before application and during the initial cure; switch it back on gradually once hardened.
