Main risks
- Cuts from sharp edges on profiles, trims and freshly cut pieces.
- Trips and falls caused by misaligned, loose or protruding pieces.
- Detachment due to insufficient fixing or poorly cured adhesive.
- Damage to hidden cables or pipes when drilling or nailing into walls or floors.
- Inhalation of dust and flying debris when cutting; tool noise.
- Skin or eye irritation from adhesives and sealants; fumes in poorly ventilated spaces.
- Injuries when handling long or heavy lengths (knocks, finger pinches).
- Moisture damage to water-sensitive skirting boards (swelling, mould) if there are leaks.
- Slip hazard at step edges if the profile sits proud or lacks full contact.
Safe use
- Measure and dry-fit each piece before fixing; check that nothing is left protruding.
- Wear cut-resistant gloves, safety goggles and a dust mask when cutting or sanding.
- Cut on a stable surface, securing the piece firmly; deburr the edges after cutting.
- Ventilate the area when applying adhesives or sealants; avoid contact with skin and eyes; clean excess as directed by the manufacturer.
- Before drilling, check for possible hidden services and mark points; select a drill bit and fixing appropriate to the substrate.
- Respect drying and curing times before walking on, cleaning or subjecting the installed pieces to load.
- On stairs and transitions, ensure the profile sits flush and is firmly fixed; check the fixing before use.
- Remove protective films and leftover packaging after installation to prevent slips and stains.
- Keep the work area tidy and clearly marked; remove offcuts and shavings immediately.
Storage and maintenance
- Store lengths horizontally on a flat, dry, dust-free surface to prevent warping and knocks.
- Protect from direct moisture and sudden temperature changes, especially for wood-based materials.
- Keep in its packaging until installation; do not stack with excessive weight.
- Clean with a soft cloth and neutral detergent; avoid strong solvents, abrasives or metal scouring pads.
- Periodically check fixing and sealing; readjust or re-adhere if any looseness or movement appears.
- Wipe up water splashes immediately and clean joints to prevent mould or swelling.
- Replace pieces that are damaged, deformed or with raised edges.
- Store adhesives and sealants tightly closed, in a cool, ventilated place; observe expiry dates.
Restrictions of use
- Do not use skirting boards or profiles as a step, climbing aid, structural element or to hang loads.
- Do not install on dirty, damp, dusty or greasy surfaces, nor on unstable substrates.
- Do not cut or drill without proper clamping, nor with unsuitable tools or dull blades.
- Do not use in areas of continuous water exposure if the chosen material is not designed for it.
- Do not leave loose pieces in walkways, nor uncured adhesives within reach of children or pets.
- Do not mix incompatible adhesives or sealants; always follow the manufacturer’s instructions for the product used.
- Do not block floor expansion joints when finishing with profiles; respect the clearances required by the flooring system.
- Keep small parts, end caps and screws out of the reach of children (risk of ingestion).
