Safety warnings and precautions
Main risks
- Entrapment in rails, tracks and the carriage pulleys; pinching when hooking or changing springs and when adjusting the footbar.
- Falls or loss of balance when getting on or off, or due to unexpected carriage movement.
- Injuries due to overexertion, poor technique or incorrect selection of resistance and range of movement.
- Slips on the carriage or footbar due to sweat, moisture or unsuitable footwear.
- Impact from spring or strap recoil if released abruptly.
- Injury or damage from loose parts, loose screws/bolts, frayed straps or fatigued springs.
- Risk to children and pets due to curiosity and access to moving parts.
Safe use
- Place the reformer on a level, non-slip surface with clear space around it; if it has castors, lock them.
- Before each session, check the firmness of the footbar and supports, the condition of straps and carabiners, the attachment of the springs, stoppers and any visible screws/bolts.
- Adjust or change the springs with the carriage immobilised and without tension; check that each spring is securely anchored before starting.
- Get on and off the reformer with control, preventing the carriage from moving unexpectedly.
- Keep hands, feet, clothing and hair away from sliding surfaces, pulleys and the underside of the carriage.
- Wear close-fitting clothing, tie long hair back, and use non-slip socks or footwear with good grip; avoid loose jewellery.
- Start with low resistance and progress gradually; stop if you feel pain, sharp twinges, dizziness or numbness.
- Hold the straps with a secure grip and do not wrap them around your hands, feet or neck.
- Follow the manufacturer's instructions for adjustments, accessories and exercises compatible with your model.
Storage and maintenance
- Store in a dry, ventilated place, away from sources of heat and moisture; avoid prolonged sun exposure.
- After each use, wipe sweat from the carriage, footbar and straps with suitable cleaners and dry thoroughly to prevent slipping.
- Periodically inspect springs, straps, ropes and pulleys for rust, cracks or fraying; replace any damaged or fatigued parts.
- Check and re-tighten screws/bolts when necessary; lubricate the carriage rails only if indicated by the manufacturer and with the recommended product.
- For folding or moving, secure the carriage and springs so they do not shift; use carry handles or transport wheels and ask for help when lifting heavy equipment.
- Do not modify the structure or improvise spares; use only parts and accessories compatible with your model.
Usage restrictions
- Not a toy: keep children and pets away from the equipment. Minors should only use it under qualified supervision.
- Do not use under the influence of alcohol or drugs, or when extremely fatigued.
- Do not use the reformer if you detect loose, damaged or missing parts, or if the springs show corrosion or obvious wear.
- Do not perform acrobatics, jumps or exercises for which you lack sufficient experience, or that your equipment does not support.
- One person at a time, and respect the load limits and settings indicated by the manufacturer.
- If pregnant, in the recent postnatal period, or with injuries or balance problems, use adapted exercises under expert supervision.
