Usage Warnings
Cartridges for Water Filter Jugs
Safety warnings and precautions
Main risks
- Consumption of insufficiently filtered water if the cartridge is spent, incorrectly fitted or used with non-potable water.
- Bacterial growth due to stagnant water, lack of jug cleaning or prolonged use of the same cartridge.
- Release of fine particles during initial uses if the filter is not rinsed or flushed.
- Leaks and spills from poorly seated seals or damaged parts, with a risk of wetting surfaces and causing slips.
- Breakage from knocks or from pouring hot water that causes thermal shock.
- Changes in taste or odour when the filter is saturated or contaminated.
- Choking hazard from small parts or packaging if handled by children.
Safe use
- Wash your hands before handling the cartridge and avoid touching the filter media.
- Check that the cartridge is compatible with your jug and fit it securely to avoid gaps and leaks.
- Rinse or flush the filter before first use and discard the initial batches of water.
- Use only with cold, potable tap water. Do not use hot or carbonated water or beverages.
- Keep the jug covered to prevent the ingress of dust or insects.
- Replace the cartridge at the recommended interval, or sooner if you notice reduced flow rate, bad taste, odour or discolouration.
- Empty any stored water if the jug is not used for a while and rinse before using it again.
- Do not open, modify or boil the cartridge. Do not clean it with soaps, bleach or other chemicals.
- Do not use the filter or the jug if they show cracks, warping or visible damage.
Storage and maintenance
- Store unopened cartridges in their original packaging, in a cool, dry place away from sunlight and heat sources.
- Do not freeze the jug or the cartridges; ice can damage the materials and affect performance.
- Clean the jug, lid and components periodically with a mild cleaner, and rinse thoroughly to remove residues.
- Avoid keeping filtered water for prolonged periods; refresh the contents regularly.
- If you detect mould, slime, persistent odours or discolouration in the jug, carry out a thorough clean and replace the cartridge.
- Dispose of used cartridges safely, wrapped to prevent drips and kept out of reach of children and pets.
Restrictions of use
- Do not use these filters to make microbiologically unsafe or unknown-source water potable without appropriate pre-treatment.
- Not suitable for seawater, industrial water, aquariums or laboratory or medical uses.
- Do not use with hot drinks, carbonated drinks, dairy or juices.
- Do not use very old or expired cartridges, or those with damaged packaging.
- Keep cartridges and packaging out of the reach of children; installation and replacement must be carried out by an adult.
- People with special water quality needs should take extra precautions and ensure the feed water is potable.
