Safety warnings and precautions
Key risks
- Finger entrapment in hinges, gas struts or slats when opening or closing the ottoman base or when handling the slatted frame.
- Falls or knocks when getting in or out of bed if the base shifts, is not level, or the legs are not securely fixed.
- Unexpected closing of the lift-up lid due to loss of force in the gas struts, poorly distributed load, or accidental knocks.
- Tipping, deformation or breakage due to overloading of the assembly (occupants, mattress and contents of the storage compartment).
- Damage to slats, legs or structure caused by jumping, sudden impacts or improper use of the edge.
- Lack of ventilation in the storage compartment, with risk of damp, mould and unpleasant odours.
- Damage to floors and walls when moving the furniture by dragging.
- Risk to children and pets: becoming trapped inside the storage compartment, operating the mechanism or suffering entrapment.
Safe use
- Assemble following the product instructions and check that screws, hinges and legs are secure; place on a flat, stable surface.
- Use a mattress of size and weight compatible with the base; centre it to prevent movement.
- Distribute the contents of the storage compartment evenly and do not block any vents.
- When opening or closing the ottoman, hold the lid with both hands, keep fingers away from hinges and do not force its movement. Wait until it is stable before accessing the interior.
- If the model has a safety catch or retaining bar, always use it while accessing the storage compartment.
- Keep the front and side areas clear when operating the lid; do not allow anyone to sit on or lean against the lid while it is moving.
- Avoid jumping or standing on the slatted frame or on the ottoman lid.
- Periodically check slats, legs, fixings, hinges and gas struts; replace damaged components before continuing use.
- To move the unit, remove the mattress and lift it with two people; do not drag.
Storage and maintenance
- Store only dry, clean items in the storage compartment; avoid liquids, damp items or flammable materials.
- Do not exceed the recommended load for the storage compartment or concentrate excessive weight at a single point.
- Regularly ventilate the interior by opening the lid to prevent condensation and odours; clean with a soft, dry cloth.
- Protect the flooring with pads or felt on the legs and check that they do not slip.
- Clean the frame and upholstery with gentle products; avoid abrasives and do not soak wood or fabric.
- Apply light lubrication to hinges or moving points only if indicated by the manufacturer; do not drill or modify the base to add accessories.
- Check that the legs are straight and the slats fit correctly; replace loose, cracked or deformed parts immediately.
Restrictions of use
- For indoor domestic use; keep away from sources of intense heat and open flames.
- Do not allow children to operate the lift-up mechanism or play inside the storage compartment; never leave anyone inside.
- Do not use if screws are missing, the lid does not remain stable, or there is excessive play.
- Do not modify the structure or remove safety elements or stops.
- Respect the load capacity indicated by the manufacturer and the number of users intended for the size of the base.
- People with limited strength or reduced mobility should not operate heavy lids without appropriate assistance.
