Usage Warnings

Electric Bread Makers

Safety warnings and precautions

Main risks

  • Burns from very hot surfaces and components (lid, bread pan, heating element) and from steam when opening.
  • Entrapment or injury when attempting to touch or remove the kneading paddle or other moving parts during operation.
  • Electric shock risk from contact with water, damaged plugs or leads, or from improper use of extension leads and multi-way adaptors.
  • Smoke or fire may result from covering steam vents, placing objects on top, dough/sugar spilling onto the heating element, or proximity to combustible materials.
  • Tipping or spillage if the bread pan is not secured correctly or if the recommended capacity is exceeded.
  • Cuts or burns when removing the paddle from hot bread.

Safe use

  • Place the bread maker on a stable, level, heat-resistant surface, with clear space around it and above the lid; avoid positioning it under low cabinets due to steam.
  • Plug directly into a suitable wall socket; avoid overloaded extension leads and keep the mains lead away from edges and hot surfaces.
  • Handle the lid, bread pan and handle with oven gloves; always open away from hands and face to avoid the rush of steam.
  • Do not insert hands or utensils during kneading or baking; stop the programme and unplug before intervening.
  • Secure the bread pan and paddle before starting, and do not exceed the capacity specified by the manufacturer to prevent overflow.
  • Do not cover the lid or vents and do not place objects on top of the appliance during use.
  • Clean immediately (when cool and unplugged) any dough or flour that falls onto the heating element or ventilation areas.
  • If you notice a burning odour, smoke or unusual noises, switch off and unplug immediately.
  • Use only the bread pan and accessories supplied or recommended by the manufacturer.

Storage and maintenance

  • Unplug and allow to cool completely before cleaning, moving or storing.
  • Do not immerse the appliance body or rinse under running water; clean with a slightly damp cloth and dry thoroughly.
  • Wash and dry the bread pan and paddle after each use; remove residues from the shaft and seal to prevent bad odours and corrosion.
  • Avoid scouring pads or abrasive cleaners that may damage non-stick surfaces.
  • Keep the vents and the area around the heating element free of crumbs and dust.
  • Periodically check the lead and plug; if damaged, do not use the appliance.
  • Store in a dry, ventilated place, out of reach of children; do not place weight on the lid and avoid winding the lead under tension.

Usage restrictions

  • Indoor domestic use only; not suitable for continuous professional use or outdoor use.
  • Keep children and pets away during operation and cooling; the appliance and bread pan remain hot after the programme ends.
  • Persons with reduced physical, sensory or cognitive capabilities should use it only under appropriate supervision.
  • Do not use the bread maker for unintended tasks (e.g. frying or heating large volumes of liquids).
  • Do not operate the appliance if the bread pan, lid, paddle or lead are damaged or deformed.
  • Do not move the bread maker while it is running or hot, or when the pan is full.
