Boiler Burners

Safety warnings and precautions

Main risks

  • Fire or explosion due to gas leaks, fuel vapours, or flame flashback.
  • Carbon monoxide poisoning due to incomplete combustion or insufficient ventilation.
  • Burns from surfaces and components that reach high temperatures.
  • Electrical hazard during installation, adjustment, or maintenance.
  • Damage to the boiler or installation due to blockages, inadequate flue gas removal, or improper use of the equipment.
  • Impact and entrapment hazards when handling heavy or sharp-edged equipment.

Safe use

  • Ensure the burner is compatible with your boiler and with the fuel type specified by the manufacturer.
  • Ensure adequate ventilation of the room and keep air inlets and the flue outlet clear.
  • Keep the work area clear: no combustible materials, oily rags, or nearby sources of ignition.
  • Before start-up, check there is no smell of gas or fuel; if there is, ventilate and do not start the equipment.
  • Do not look for leaks with a flame or sparks; use non-flammable, manufacturer-recommended methods.
  • Do not modify the burner's settings, connections, or safety systems.
  • During any intervention, disconnect the electrical supply and shut off the fuel supply. Allow it to cool completely before touching components.
  • Consider installing a carbon monoxide detector in the room where applicable.

Storage and maintenance

  • Before installation, store the burner in a dry, ventilated place, protected from dust, moisture, impacts, and vibrations.
  • Keep it away from heat sources, sparks, and flammable materials.
  • Protect electrical and electronic components from rain and water.
  • Follow the manufacturer's maintenance plan: periodic cleaning and inspection of overall condition, replacing worn or damaged parts.
  • Keep the flue ducts and the room's ventilation grilles clean.
  • After a fault, overheating, or abnormal flames, switch off the equipment, allow it to cool, and inspect before resuming service.

Restrictions on use

  • Installation, adjustment, and repairs only by qualified personnel.
  • Use only with compatible boilers and with the fuel specified by the manufacturer. Do not mix or substitute fuels.
  • Do not use in spaces without adequate ventilation or with inadequate flue gas removal.
  • Do not cover or obstruct air inlets, combustion air intakes, or flue outlets.
  • Do not operate the burner if leaks, smells of gas/fuel, sparking, unusual smoke, or abnormal noises are detected.
  • Keep out of reach of children and away from pets. Do not leave the equipment operating without appropriate supervision.
  • Do not modify the equipment, bypass protective devices, or disable safety systems.
  • Do not use near vapours, dusts, or readily flammable materials.
