Main risks

• Burns from contact with hot surfaces, the grill and embers, as well as from splashes of hot grease.
• Fires caused by sparks or embers being projected onto vegetation, garden furniture, wooden decking or nearby awnings.
• Inhalation of smoke or carbon monoxide in poorly ventilated or semi-enclosed spaces.
• Structural damage due to an unstable base, incorrect assembly, cracks from thermal shock, or overloading the grill.
• Falling heavy components (hood, chimney or slabs) if not properly secured or if deteriorated.

Safe use

• Install and use the barbecue outdoors only, on a level, firm, non-combustible base, keeping a safe distance from walls, roofs/overhangs, branches and flammable materials.
• Set a safety perimeter and keep the surrounding area clear; keep sand, a fire blanket or a suitable domestic extinguisher to hand.
• Light it with barbecue-specific firelighters or lighters; do not use alcohol, petrol or other flammable liquids. Do not add fuel once the coals are lit.
• Do not use it in strong winds or under awnings or low roofs. Avoid draughts that may carry sparks.
• Never leave it unattended while in use. Keep children and pets away.
• Use heat-resistant gloves and long-handled utensils; avoid loose clothing that could catch fire.
• Control grease flare-ups: do not use water to extinguish them; reduce oxygen with a lid if fitted, with sand, or with a suitable fire blanket or extinguisher.
• To extinguish, let the embers burn out or smother the fire; check that they are completely cold before removing them. Do not pour water onto hot surfaces to avoid thermal shock and the scattering of ash.

Storage and maintenance

• Store charcoal and firewood in a dry, ventilated place, away from sources of heat and sparks.
• Remove ashes only when they are completely cold and place them in a lidded metal container; do not use bags or plastic containers.
• Clean the grill and grease drip trays regularly to prevent build-up that could feed flames.
• Regularly check the structure: joints, bricks, hood and chimney. If you detect deep cracks or loose parts, do not use the barbecue until it has been properly repaired.
• If it has a chimney or flue, carry out periodic soot removal to prevent internal fires.
• Protect the barbecue from the elements with a breathable cover when it is cool and dry, avoiding water accumulation on the structure.
• Do not overload the grill or shelves with excessive weight.

Restrictions on use

• For outdoor use only; do not use indoors, in garages, enclosed porches or tents or marquees.
• Do not use as a heating system or for incinerating waste. Avoid treated or painted wood, chipboard, plastics, or mineral coal.
• Do not use accelerant liquids or aerosols near the flame or embers.
• Do not allow handling by minors; keep children and pets outside the safety perimeter.
• Do not move the structure once installed, nor hang from the grill or hood.
• Avoid using it in extreme winds or during periods of high fire risk in the surrounding area.
• Do not modify the structure or add accessories not intended by the manufacturer.
