  • Striking other people or pets if they enter the throwing area.
  • Falls when moving to retrieve darts due to slippery floors or obstacles.
  • Damage to walls, doors or floors from throws outside the board or improper installation.
  • The dartboard falling due to poorly secured mounting or wall fixings.
  • Choking hazard from small parts (flights, shafts and interchangeable points).

Safe use

  • Mark out a clear throwing area with free space in front and to the sides; keep people and pets behind the thrower.
  • Do not throw while someone is retrieving darts; set clear turns and signals to start and stop.
  • Use darts compatible with the type of board; do not force stuck darts to avoid damage.
  • Before each use, check that points, shafts and flights are secure and not bent or deformed.
  • Walk with darts pointing downwards and use cases or tip protectors when transporting them.
  • Place a surround ring or backing panel around the board to reduce bounce-outs and wall damage.
  • On electronic models: use soft tips if indicated and insert the batteries with the correct polarity, without mixing types or new with used (if applicable).

Storage and maintenance

  • Store darts in a case with tip protectors, out of the reach of children.
  • Keep the dartboard in a dry, ventilated place; avoid high humidity and direct sunlight.
  • Clean with a dry or slightly damp cloth; do not use abrasive products or immerse the product. On electronic dartboards, do not spray liquids.
  • Periodically check and tighten screws and fasteners on the mounting system.
  • Rotate a fibre (sisal) dartboard periodically to distribute wear, if the model allows.
  • Replace worn or bent points, and damaged shafts and flights; dispose of broken parts safely.
  • If it uses batteries: remove them when not being used for long periods and store them away from heat.
