Safety warnings and precautions
Main risks
- Burns from contact with grill grates, embers, flames and hot accessories (tongs, griddles, baskets, trays).
- Fire due to ignition of fats, wooden skewers, firelighters or flammable liquids.
- Cuts or punctures when handling knives, skewers, kebab sticks or wire brushes.
- Shedding of grill brush bristles that may remain on the cooking surface or adhere to food.
- Gas leaks or uncontrolled flames when connecting or using hoses, regulators or adaptors (when the accessory is for gas).
- Electrical risk due to moisture, water or excessive heat in rotisserie motors, igniters and electric thermometers.
- Cross-contamination between raw and cooked foods by reusing the same utensils without cleaning.
- Exposure to smoke and vapours when lighting with liquids or using chimney starters in poorly ventilated spaces.
Safe use
- Read and follow the specific instructions for each accessory before first use.
- Use long-handled tools and heat-resistant gloves; keep hands and forearms away from the flame and the sides of the barbecue.
- Keep handles and cables out of direct heat and away from edges to prevent falls or snagging.
- For lighting, use suitable firelighters or chimney starters; do not add flammable liquids over hot coals or flame.
- If you use wooden skewers, soak them beforehand to reduce the risk of them catching fire.
- Inspect brushes before and after use; discard them if bristles are missing. After brushing, wipe the grill with a damp cloth or paper to remove any residues.
- For gas accessories, check connections and seals before each use and check for possible leaks with a soapy solution; do not use a flame to detect them.
- For electric or battery-powered accessories, keep them dry and away from hot surfaces; unplug them or remove the battery before cleaning.
- Use separate utensils and boards for raw and cooked foods; clean thermometers and probes between measurements.
- Do not leave utensils on the grill unless they are designed to withstand high temperatures.
Storage and maintenance
- Allow accessories to cool completely before washing or storing.
- Wash and dry food-contact utensils after each use; store knives, skewers and kebab sticks with the tips protected and out of reach of children.
- Keep brushes, tongs and metal tools dry to prevent corrosion; replace brushes with loose bristles or damaged handles.
- Store firelighters, fuels and aerosols in a cool, dry and ventilated place, away from heat sources and the barbecue.
- If you use gas accessories, periodically check hoses and seals; replace parts that are hardened, cracked or poorly fitting.
- For accessories with batteries, remove them if they will not be used for a long time and take them to appropriate collection points when spent.
- Ensure the barbecue is completely cool before fitting covers to prevent fires and condensation.
Restrictions of use
- For adult use only; keep children and pets away from the cooking area. Do not allow children to handle fire or hot accessories.
- Do not use damaged, deformed or unstable accessories; do not modify adaptors, regulators, motors or brackets.
- Do not use accessories that are not food-safe directly on the grill; avoid non-heat-resistant plastic utensils near the flame.
- Do not use chimney starters, fuels or briquettes indoors, in garages or in enclosed spaces.
- Do not immerse motors, electric igniters or wired components in water; do not use them in the rain unless they are designed for outdoor use.
- Do not leave hot accessories unattended or protruding from the worktop or grill, where they could tip over or cause burns.
- Use only parts and spares compatible with your barbecue as indicated by the accessory manufacturer.
