Safety warnings and precautions

Main risks

  • Fire due to lint build-up or inadequate ventilation.
  • Fire risk when drying garments with residues of oils, solvents, alcohols, petrol or stain removers.
  • Electric shock risk from damaged cables, plugs or sockets, and from using extension leads or power strips.
  • Burns from very hot surfaces, air or garments at the end of the cycle.
  • Entrapment or impact injuries when closing the door or handling the drum while it is moving.
  • Moisture or spills when emptying the water tank (in models with a tank), with a possible slip hazard.
  • Instability or tipping over if installed incorrectly or stacked without the appropriate stacking kit.

Safe use

  • Install the dryer on a stable, level surface, leaving space around it for ventilation.
  • Connect directly to a suitable mains socket; avoid extension leads, power strips and multi-way adaptors.
  • Do not exceed the load capacity and distribute the laundry to promote airflow.
  • Check and clean the lint filter before or after each cycle; ensure the air vents are not obstructed.
  • Do not load garments with residues of oils, waxes, greases, solvents or foams. Wash them thoroughly and air-dry if they have been in contact with flammable substances.
  • Select the programme and temperature according to the care labels on the garments.
  • If your model is vented, keep the hose free of kinks and securely fixed; do not cover air inlets or outlets.
  • On models with a tank, empty it when indicated to prevent spills.
  • If you notice a burning smell, smoke, sparks or unusual noises, stop the cycle and unplug the appliance.

Storage and maintenance

  • Place the appliance indoors, in a dry, ventilated location, away from heat sources and flammable products.
  • Disconnect from the mains before cleaning or carrying out any basic maintenance.
  • Clean the lint filter after each use and remove any lint build-up around the door area and vents.
  • Periodically clean the vent duct or the condenser (depending on the dryer type) and the air inlets/outlets.
  • Empty and, if applicable, rinse the water tank regularly; check the drain hose if it is plumbed into a drain.
  • Keep the rear and the area around the appliance free of dust to aid heat dissipation.
  • Check the cable and plug; if you notice any damage, do not use the dryer until it has been repaired.
  • Avoid abrasive cleaning products and do not use water jets directly on the appliance.

Restrictions of use

  • For indoor use and for garments suitable for tumble drying according to their care label; do not use the dryer outdoors.
  • Do not allow children to play with the dryer; use must be supervised by an adult where appropriate.
  • Do not dry items with foam rubber parts, rubber, heat-sensitive adhesives or flammable components.
  • Do not use the dryer if it shows visible damage, or if it has suffered an impact or water ingress.
  • Do not stack with other appliances without the manufacturer’s specific stacking kit.
  • Do not cover the top or use the dryer as a surface during operation.
  • Avoid using the appliance in the presence of flammable aerosols or vapours.
  • Do not operate the appliance with the door open or attempt to stop the drum with your hands.
