Toner Cartridges

Safety warnings and precautions

Main risks

  • Leaks or breakages releasing toner powder, which may irritate the eyes, skin and respiratory tract.
  • Stains that are difficult to remove on clothing, furniture and equipment.
  • Risk of minor burns when touching internal areas of the printer that remain hot after printing.
  • Malfunction or damage to the printer due to incompatible cartridges, incorrect installation or damaged contacts.
  • Fine powder may ignite if it accumulates and comes into contact with sparks or flames.

Safe use

  • Check that the cartridge is compatible with your printer model before opening the packaging.
  • Allow the printer to cool before opening the cartridge compartment and follow the manufacturer's instructions.
  • Handle the cartridge on a protected surface; avoid touching the photosensitive drum and electrical contacts.
  • Do not open or pierce the cartridge. Remove seals and protective covers away from your face and without excessive shaking; if instructed, gently shake to distribute the toner.
  • Do not force installation. If you encounter resistance, remove it and check the position and fixings before refitting.
  • In the event of a spill, ventilate the area and avoid dry sweeping. Remove the powder with a slightly damp cloth or a vacuum cleaner suitable for fine dust, and dispose of the waste in a sealed bag. Wash your hands with cold water.
  • Keep the cartridge away from heat sources, sparks or flames while handling.

Storage and maintenance

  • Store the cartridge in its original packaging, in a cool, dry place out of direct sunlight.
  • Avoid extreme temperatures and high humidity. Do not leave it in a vehicle in the sun or near radiators.
  • Position it as specified by the manufacturer (horizontal or vertical) and protect it from drops and knocks.
  • Check periodically for leaks. If present, isolate the cartridge in a bag and clean the affected area.
  • Clean the exterior with a dry cloth. Do not use solvents or alcohol on the cartridge.
  • Rotate stock and use earlier purchases first to avoid degradation from prolonged storage.

Usage restrictions

  • Keep out of reach of children and pets. Not a toy.
  • Do not disassemble, refill, pierce, heat or incinerate the cartridge.
  • Do not use if it is cracked, deformed or leaking; replace it.
  • Use only the specified model and colour for each printer slot.
  • People with respiratory sensitivity should minimise exposure to toner dust.
  • At end of life, use manufacturer-recommended take-back or recycling programmes, or local recycling points.
