Usage Warnings
Utility Sink Taps
Warnings and safety precautions
Key risks
- Burns from water that is too hot or sudden changes in temperature.
- Leaks and overflows due to faulty connections, poorly fitted hoses or leaving the tap open, with a risk of flooding.
- Slips and falls due to wet floors around the sink.
- Backflow of dirty or chemically contaminated water if the spout or a connected hose is immersed in buckets or sinks.
- Damage or breakage due to rough use, impacts or excess pressure in the system.
- Deterioration of seals and finishes from contact with aggressive cleaners or solvents.
- Frost damage in outdoor installations or unheated areas.
Safe use
- Before first use and periodically, check that the tap and its connections are secure and free of visible leaks.
- Open and close the flow gradually; check the temperature with your hand before filling containers.
- If you connect a hose, use a washer in good condition and tighten without forcing the threads; check for drips. Do not leave the system pressurised unattended for prolonged periods.
- Maintain an air gap when filling buckets or sinks: do not immerse the spout or the end of the hose to prevent backflow.
- Avoid directing the stream of water towards sockets, cables or electrical appliances.
- Wipe up splashes and puddles on the floor immediately to prevent slips.
- After each use, close the tap fully. If you will not use it for a while, also close the nearby isolation valve if fitted.
Storage and maintenance
- If the tap is not installed, store it in its original packaging, in a dry place protected from knocks; keep washers and small accessories out of the reach of children.
- Periodically inspect washers, flexible hoses and connections; replace any part that is cracked, hardened or shows signs of wear.
- Remove limescale with a soft cloth and non-abrasive cleaners; avoid metal scouring pads, strong acids and concentrated bleach that may damage finishes and seals.
- If the handle becomes stiff or dripping occurs, do not force it: check and replace the washers or the internal mechanism as appropriate.
- In outdoor locations or unheated rooms, protect against frost: shut off the supply and, where possible, drain the tap and hoses.
- After knocks, vibration or movement of the sink, check the connections for leaks again.
Usage restrictions
- Do not hang buckets, tools or loads from the spout or handle; do not use the tap as an anchoring point or support.
- Do not use the tap with fluids other than water, nor for dispensing concentrated chemicals.
- Do not modify the tap or swap parts for others not intended for the model; avoid inappropriate tools that could damage threads or seals.
- Do not use the tap if you detect cracks, looseness, corrosion or unusual dripping; turn off the water until it is repaired or replaced.
- Keep children and vulnerable people under supervision near the sink to prevent burns, accidental opening or flooding.
- Avoid exposing the tap to extreme pressures or temperatures that could damage it or cause dangerous splashing.
- Do not install or use the tap outdoors without adequate protection from the weather and frost.
