Warnings and safety precautions
Main risks
- Leaks and seepage due to poorly seated joints or cracked parts, with risk of water damage and flooding.
- Bad odours and gas backflow if the trap is left without water, misaligned or incomplete.
- Blockages from hair, soap and foreign objects that may cause overflows.
- Burns from contact with very hot water during testing or handling.
- Slips due to puddles on the floor during installation or checks.
- Damage to the bath or the assembly due to over-tightening, cross-threading or use of inappropriate tools.
- Skin or eye irritation from contact with harsh cleaners or sealants.
- Cuts from sharp metal or plastic edges.
Safe use
- Check the compatibility of the waste and trap with the bath and the drain connection point before installing.
- Clear and dry the work area; protect the floor to prevent slips.
- Follow the manufacturer’s assembly sequence and use new, clean seals in good condition.
- Tighten by hand first and finish with a tool without forcing; stop if you notice creaking or deformation.
- Align the pipes, avoiding twists and stresses that could cause leaks.
- Check for watertightness with a small amount of water and increase gradually while watching for drips.
- Avoid pouring fats, paints, cements, solvents or objects down the drain; use hair catchers where appropriate.
- Wear gloves and ventilate the room when applying cleaners or sealants; do not mix chemicals.
- Avoid continuous exposure to extremely hot water that could deform plastics and seals.
- Wipe up any water spilled on the bathroom floor immediately.
Storage and maintenance
- Store spares and seals in a dry, clean place protected from sun and heat to prevent degradation.
- Do not stack or deform pipes and seals during storage.
- Clean the waste and trap periodically, removing hair and debris; avoid sharp objects that could damage them.
- If the bath is not used for weeks, fill the trap with water to maintain the water seal and prevent odours.
- Periodically check for drips, looseness, cracks or corrosion and replace any deteriorated parts.
- To clear blockages, prioritise non-corrosive methods (manual plunger, moderately hot water) and compatible products, following their instructions.
- In assemblies with an overflow, check that the pipe is clean and properly connected.
Restrictions on use
- Do not use the assembly if the trap is missing, inverted, or if any part is cracked or deformed.
- Do not lean on or hang from the waste or the overflow; they are not anchoring points.
- Do not modify, drill or cut the components; use only compatible parts and seals.
- Keep screws, seals and small parts out of the reach of children and pets during installation.
- Avoid use with water containing construction debris or solids; in such cases, filter or pre-clean beforehand.
- If the installation involves work on the drainage network or access is complex, consider the help of a qualified installer.
- Do not expose components to flames, heat tools or direct heat sources.
- Do not use highly corrosive cleaners or strong acids that could damage metals, plastics or seals.
