Tap Adapters

Safety warnings and precautions

Main risks

  • Leaks or drips due to incompatible threads, diameters or worn/damaged seals.
  • Water damage to furniture, floors or adjacent rooms due to a faulty connection.
  • Burns from the sudden release of hot water when testing the installation.
  • Damage to tap fittings or pipework from over-tightening or using unsuitable tools.
  • Minor injuries (cuts, pinches) during assembly or removal.
  • Debris in the water if the adaptor is not cleaned before first use.

Safe use

  • Shut off the water supply before installing, adjusting or removing the adaptor, and release pressure by opening the tap.
  • Check the adaptor is compatible with your tap fittings: connection type (male/female), size and thread pitch as specified by the manufacturer.
  • Check the condition of seals and sealing components; replace any that are damaged and use only sealing materials suitable for water.
  • Start threading by hand to avoid cross-threading. Tighten gradually without over-tightening. If using a tool, protect surfaces to prevent marking and hold the opposing part to avoid transmitting torque to the pipework.
  • Do not force alignments or use the adaptor to correct excessive misalignment; if there is strain, choose another compatible solution.
  • Open the supply gradually and check for leaks with a dry cloth or paper. Test with both cold and hot water and observe for a few minutes.
  • During the first few hours of use, periodically check for drips or dampness and act immediately if you detect leaks.

Storage and maintenance

  • Store adaptors in a dry, clean place, in their packaging where possible, to protect threads and seals.
  • Keep seals and elastic components away from sources of direct heat, strong sunlight and aggressive chemicals.
  • Before installing a stored adaptor, inspect for deformation, corrosion, internal dirt or cracked seals.
  • Clean with a soft cloth and soapy water. Avoid scouring pads and abrasive cleaners. Use mild descalers and keep them away from the seals.
  • Periodically check for watertightness and limescale build-up; replace seals when they show wear or hardening.

Restrictions of use

  • Intended for water installations. Do not use these adaptors for gas, fuels, steam or other fluids.
  • Do not use the product if you notice cracks, deformation, visible corrosion or damaged threads.
  • Do not exceed the pressure and temperature ranges specified by the tap manufacturer or the adaptor itself.
  • Do not use the adaptor as an anchoring point or to support the weight of accessories without appropriate support.
  • Keep small parts out of reach of children to prevent swallowing or misuse.
  • Do not install outdoors or in corrosive environments unless the product explicitly states it is suitable.
