Main risks
- Electric shock from touching live grids, plugs or damaged cables.
- Fire risk due to overheating, covering the appliance, or proximity to flammable materials.
- Minor burns from contact with lamps or surfaces that become very hot during use.
- Cuts or pinches when handling grilles, fan blades, trays or moving parts.
- Skin or eye irritation from contact with adhesives or chemical attractants.
- Distress to pets sensitive to ultrasound, or danger if they come into contact with live grids or adhesive surfaces.
- Trips due to poorly placed cables or devices positioned in walkways.
- Food contamination from insect fragments if used near kitchens or tables.
- Increased bites if placed too close to people and it attracts insects into the occupied area.
Safe use
- Read the instructions for your model and use the appliance only for the intended purpose.
- Install on a stable surface or hang securely, at a safe distance from walkways and places where people are seated or sleeping.
- Connect to a suitable socket in good condition; do not use the appliance with damaged cables, plugs or casings.
- Do not touch the grid, fan blades or other live parts during operation; do not insert objects into the unit.
- Avoid direct eye exposure to UV light and do not position the appliance at eye level.
- Place the device away from water, rain or splashes unless the product clearly states it is suitable for such conditions.
- Do not cover the appliance or block air/light intake or outlet.
- If using attractants or baits, follow the manufacturer's instructions, avoid contact with skin and eyes, and wash your hands after handling them.
- Outdoors, position the unit at some distance from tables and gathering areas to avoid drawing insects towards people.
- Disconnect and allow to cool before cleaning or replacing bulbs, trays or consumables.
Storage and maintenance
- Clean trays and grilles regularly with the appliance switched off and unplugged; use a brush or dry cloth. Do not use high-pressure water or immerse the unit.
- Dispose of insects and debris in sealed bags to prevent odours and secondary infestations; wash your hands afterwards.
- Periodically check cables, plugs, casing and fixings. If you detect damage, stop using the product until replacement or authorised repair.
- Replace bulbs, adhesives, filters, batteries or attractant cartridges according to the manufacturer's instructions and use compatible replacements.
- Store the appliance in a dry, ventilated place, protected from dust, moisture and direct sunlight. Keep consumables sealed and away from food and drink.
- If it will not be used for a while, unplug the unit and, in battery-powered models, remove the batteries to prevent leaks.
Restrictions on use
- Keep out of reach of children and pets; do not allow them to handle the appliance.
- Do not use on unstable surfaces, near curtains or other flammable materials, or directly above food, cots or beds.
- Do not use in very humid areas, inside showers, pools or fountains, or in direct contact with rain, unless the product is specifically designed for this.
- Do not use flammable aerosols or solvents near the operating appliance.
- If the model emits ultrasound, avoid placing it in rooms where sensitive pets could be affected.
- Do not modify, open or tamper with the device internally; do not cover it or use it as general lighting.
- Do not use the appliance in the presence of flammable vapours or airborne dust.
