Shower Hoses
Safety warnings and precautions
Main risks
- Leaks from worn washers or poorly tightened threads, posing a risk of slipping and water damage.
- Sudden hose failure due to wear, twisting or high pressure, causing a sudden release of water.
- Scalds from water that is too hot when opening the tap or after temperature changes.
- Damage to the tap or inlet by over-tightening or cross-threading.
- Cuts or pinches from open metal coils or damaged edges.
- Unexpected splashes and loss of flow due to limescale build-up at the connections.
Safe use
- Turn off the water supply before installing or replacing the hose.
- Check that there are washers in good condition at both ends; replace them if they are stiff, flattened or cracked.
- Screw on by hand, aligning the threads; do not force or over-tighten. If using a tool, protect surfaces with a cloth.
- Avoid twisting: place the shower handset in its holder and check that the hose rotates freely.
- Turn the water on gradually for the initial test and check for leaks at the joints.
- Do not pull the hose to reach further or bend it at sharp angles; choose an appropriate length.
- Set the temperature before directing the spray at your body, especially after periods of non-use.
- Wipe up puddles immediately to reduce the risk of slipping.
Storage and maintenance
- Leave the hose hanging without tension or twists; avoid it getting trapped by the shower screen or furniture.
- Clean with a soft cloth and soapy water; avoid abrasives, acidic or chlorine-based products that could damage finishes and washers.
- Remove limescale from the connections and, if the flow rate drops, dismantle and gently clean the washers and filters.
- Inspect periodically: if you notice bulges, cracks, open coils or leaks, replace the hose.
- Replace washers when drips appear or there are signs of hardening.
- In infrequently used properties or in winter, drain the hose to prevent frost damage.
- Keep it away from direct heat sources.
Restrictions on use
- Do not use as a support or hang heavy objects from the hose.
- Do not use outside domestic potable water systems or with high-pressure equipment.
- Do not connect to substances other than water or to concentrated detergents or solvents.
- Do not allow young children to play with the hose without supervision due to possible risks of impact, entanglement or scalding.
- Do not use the hose if it has visible damage; replace it with one compatible in length and connections.
- Do not modify the product or cut its ends.
