Safety warnings and precautions
Main risks
- Severe cuts and amputations from contact with the moving chain.
- Kickback when the tip of the guide bar contacts the workpiece or when cutting wood under tension.
- Ejection of chips and debris that can injure the eyes and face.
- Prolonged noise and vibration that can cause hearing damage and discomfort in hands and arms.
- Poisoning by exhaust gases and oxygen depletion in petrol models if used in enclosed spaces.
- Burns from hot surfaces on engine-driven machines.
- Electrical hazard in corded models or in very damp environments.
- Fire due to fuel spills or sparks near flammable materials.
- Loss of control due to fatigue, poor posture, unstable ground or unsuitable clothing.
- Falling branches or sudden movement of the workpiece while cutting.
Safe use
- Read and follow the manufacturer’s instructions before first use.
- Always use appropriate PPE: goggles or a face shield, hearing protection, cut-resistant gloves, helmet, chainsaw protective trousers and safety boots with toe cap and slip-resistant sole.
- Before starting work, check that the chain is in good condition, correctly tensioned and lubricated; do not use the tool if you detect damage or loose parts.
- Keep the work area clear and keep third parties and pets at a safe distance.
- Hold the chainsaw with both hands, adopt a stable stance and avoid cutting above shoulder height.
- Avoid contact with the tip of the guide bar and plan the cut to prevent pinching or kickback.
- Secure the workpiece and check that it does not contain nails, stones or other hard objects.
- Switch off and disconnect the power source (battery, cable or engine) before adjusting, cleaning, clearing jams, transporting or changing the chain.
- For corded models, keep the cable behind you and out of the cutting line; avoid working with damaged cables.
- Work outdoors or in well-ventilated areas; do not use petrol models indoors.
- Avoid working in heavy rain, icy conditions, high winds or poor visibility.
Storage and maintenance
- Allow the machine to cool, remove sawdust residues and fit the guide bar cover (scabbard) before storing or transporting.
- Store the chainsaw out of the reach of children, locked away and in a stable position.
- Keep the chain sharp and correctly tensioned; replace the chain, guide bar or safety components when worn.
- Use compatible chain oil and check the lubrication system regularly.
- For petrol models, store fuel in suitable containers, tightly closed and away from heat sources; clean up spills immediately.
- For battery models, store and transport batteries protected from impacts and short circuits, in a cool, dry place, out of direct sunlight.
- Do not use or charge the tool if you detect cracks, looseness, exposed wires, unusual smells or overheating; for complex repairs contact a qualified service centre.
Usage restrictions
- Not suitable for minors; keep away from children and untrained persons.
- Do not use under the influence of alcohol, drugs, medication that causes drowsiness or when extremely fatigued.
- Do not tamper with or disable safety devices or make modifications.
- Do not use petrol models indoors or near naked flames, sparks or flammable materials.
- Do not work on ladders, in trees or at height without specific equipment and training.
- Do not cut materials other than natural wood unless expressly indicated by the manufacturer.
- Do not transport the chainsaw with the chain moving; engage the chain brake when moving short distances.
- Do not operate near power lines or in areas with concealed services without first verifying a safe distance.
- Always hold the tool with both hands; do not use it one-handed.
