Warnings and Safety Precautions
Main Risks
- Projection of particles and splashes of compounds that can cause injury or irritation.
- Detachment of foam pads, bonnets or backing pads that are poorly secured due to rotational forces.
- Snagging of loose clothing, loose gloves, hair or jewellery on the rotating backing pad.
- Loss of control or kickback when catching on edges or uneven surfaces.
- Overheating of the pad and the work surface, with a risk of burns or material damage.
- Exposure to prolonged noise and vibration.
- Inhalation of fine dust or vapours from polishing compounds.
- Electrical risk due to damaged cables, faulty plugs, or use in damp environments.
- Tripping or snagging on the power cable or hose (if applicable).
- Battery-related risks (impacts, short circuits or overheating) in cordless models.
Safe Use
- Before starting, inspect the tool: cable/plug or battery, switch, housing and air vents.
- Always wear appropriate PPE: safety glasses or a face shield, hearing protection and a fine dust mask; close-fitting gloves and snug clothing with hair tied back.
- Fit and secure the accessory (foam pad, bonnet or backing pad) compatible with the model and the specified speed; do not use damaged accessories.
- Start at low speed and check for abnormal vibration before contacting the surface.
- Hold the polisher with both hands and maintain a stable stance; route the cable behind you and away from the work area.
- Do not apply excessive pressure; move the polisher evenly to avoid marks and overheating.
- Avoid working with the edge of the pad on edges that could cause snags or kickback.
- Disconnect from the mains or remove the battery before changing accessories, cleaning or adjusting the tool; wait until the pad has come to a complete stop.
- Work in well-ventilated areas; use polishing compounds according to their instructions, without mixing products, and clean up spills immediately.
- Do not use the tool wet unless the model is designed for it; keep hands and surroundings dry.
- Take regular breaks to allow the pad and surface to cool and to reduce exposure to vibration.
Storage and Maintenance
- Unplug and allow to cool before cleaning or storing the polisher.
- Remove dust and compound residues with a dry cloth or one slightly dampened on non-electrical areas; avoid water jets.
- Regularly check the condition of the cable, housing, switch and air vents; if you detect damage, do not use the tool.
- Replace backing pads, foam pads or bonnets that are worn, out of balance or with deteriorated attachment.
- Periodically check the tightness of handles and fasteners.
- Coil the cable without stretching or twisting it, and do not hang the tool by the cable.
- Store the polisher and accessories in its case or box, in a dry, clean place away from sources of heat or moisture.
- Cordless models: charge only with the specified charger, do not cover the charger during charging, and store batteries out of the tool, protected from impacts, metal objects and extreme temperatures.
Restrictions of Use
- Keep out of the reach of children; for use only by adults familiar with its operation.
- Do not use for cutting, grinding or sanding if the tool or accessory is not designed for it.
- Do not use improvised or incompatible accessories, nor exceed the diameter or speed specified by the accessory manufacturer.
- Do not lock the switch in the on position or transport the tool while running.
- Do not operate on unstable ladders, in awkward postures, or with one hand if it compromises control.
- Do not use near flammable materials or vapours; keep the work area clean and uncluttered.
- Avoid working on fragile surfaces or delicate coatings without first testing in a less visible area.
- Do not modify the tool or remove guards or housings.
