Safety warnings and precautions

Main risks

  • Cuts or impacts from bit slippage or unexpected screw rotation.
  • Sudden wrist twist from reaction torque.
  • Flying splinters, shavings or screws, with possible eye injury.
  • Entanglement of loose clothing, jewellery or hair in the rotating shaft or bit.
  • Electrical hazard from damaged cables, faulty plugs or use in damp environments.
  • Overheating of the motor, bits or batteries, with risk of burns or fire.
  • Damage to the workpiece or screw head due to excessive torque or an unsuitable bit.
  • Loss of balance and falls when working at height or on ladders.
  • Accidental penetration of hidden cables or pipes when driving screws into walls or ceilings.

Safe use

  • Check the tool before use: housing free of cracks, cable or battery in good condition, and bit securely attached.
  • Use compatible bits in good condition; start at low speed and increase only if necessary.
  • Hold the screwdriver firmly and maintain a stable stance; secure the workpiece with clamps where appropriate.
  • Align the bit with the screw and apply straight pressure to prevent slippage.
  • Keep hands away from the rotating area; tie back hair and avoid loose clothing or accessories.
  • Wear safety glasses; use a dust mask when particles are generated and hearing protection if noise levels require it.
  • Disconnect from the mains or remove the battery before changing bits, adjusting accessories or cleaning.
  • Work in dry, well-lit, uncluttered areas; keep flammable materials away.
  • Before driving screws into walls or ceilings, check for any hidden cables or pipes.

Storage and maintenance

  • Allow the tool and bits to cool before storing; wipe off dust with a dry cloth.
  • Inspect and replace worn or damaged bits to prevent slippage and stripped screws.
  • Keep ventilation slots free of dirt and avoid using harsh solvents or water for cleaning.
  • Store the tool in a dry place, protected from dust, moisture and direct sunlight, preferably in its case.
  • Cordless models: use only the compatible charger, charge on a non-flammable surface and do not cover the charger; do not charge or use batteries that are swollen, damaged or hot.
  • For prolonged storage, remove the battery and avoid the terminals coming into contact with metal objects.
  • Corded models: wind the cable without strain or tight bends, and check the insulation regularly.

Restrictions on use

  • Keep out of reach of children; use restricted to adults familiar with power tools.
  • Do not use in the rain, with wet hands or in atmospheres with flammable gases, vapours or dust.
  • Do not use the tool as a drill, chisel or lever, and do not force it beyond its capacity.
  • Do not use incompatible accessories or modify the tool, charger or battery.
  • Do not operate if there is visible damage, a burning smell, unusual sparks, abnormal vibrations or excessive heat.
  • Avoid working at height without stable support; do not use the tool if you are tired or under the influence of alcohol or medication that reduces alertness.
