Safety warnings and precautions

Main risks

  • Sudden twisting due to jamming (kickback) that may twist your wrist or cause loss of control.
  • Flying chips, dust, or fragments from drill bits, driver bits or impact sockets.
  • High noise levels that can damage hearing.
  • Prolonged vibration causing fatigue and loss of accuracy.
  • Fine dust (wood, metal or masonry) which may irritate the eyes and airways.
  • Heating of the tool, accessories or battery, with a risk of burns.
  • Risk of electric shock if cables are damaged or when working in damp areas.
  • Sparks when working with metals that may ignite flammable vapours or combustible dust.
  • Entanglement with rotating parts, loose clothing, hair or loose gloves.
  • Hose whip on pneumatic tools if disconnected under pressure.
  • Damage to concealed services (cables, pipes) when drilling walls, floors or ceilings.

Safe use

  • Wear safety glasses, hearing protection and respiratory protection appropriate to the material; use close-fitting gloves and clothing.
  • Secure the workpiece with clamps or a vice to prevent it from turning or vibrating.
  • Check the condition of the cable, plug, hose, battery, chuck/bit holder and accessories before use.
  • Use compatible, impact-rated accessories (drill bits, driver bits and sockets) in good condition and of the correct size.
  • Hold the tool with both hands and, if available, fit and use the auxiliary handle.
  • Select the appropriate mode and speed/torque; start slowly and increase gradually without forcing.
  • Maintain a stable stance and align the tool with the drill/screw axis to avoid twisting.
  • Keep cables and hoses away from the cutting area and sharp edges; avoid trip hazards.
  • Disconnect from the mains, remove the battery or depressurise the hose before changing accessories or making adjustments.
  • Check in advance for hidden cables or pipes with suitable detectors; do not drill if you cannot confirm this.
  • Control dust with extraction or ventilation and clean the work area regularly.
  • Avoid using the tool near flammable gases, vapours or dust and do not cover it so that it can ventilate properly.
  • When working at height, use stable surfaces and, where appropriate, tool tethering systems.

Storage and maintenance

  • Switch off and disconnect the tool after use; allow it to cool before storing.
  • Clean it to remove dust and chips, and keep the ventilation grilles clear.
  • Store it in a dry, clean place and out of the reach of children.
  • Remove the battery for transport or prolonged storage and avoid extreme temperatures or direct sunlight.
  • Charge only with compatible chargers and do not use or charge batteries that are swollen, dented or wet.
  • Inspect and replace worn, chipped or deformed drill bits, driver bits and sockets.
  • Periodically check cables, plugs, hoses and couplings; do not use the tool if they show damage.
  • Check the tightness of the chuck or bit holder before each use.
  • For pneumatic tools, purge residual pressure and disconnect the hose before storage.
  • Transport the tool with accessories removed and, where possible, with the trigger lock engaged or without the battery.

Restrictions of use

  • Product intended for adult users; keep out of the reach of children and do not leave it unattended when plugged in.
  • Use only for drilling or driving/fastening within the capabilities of the model; do not use as a sander, polisher, mixer or lever.
  • Do not use accessories that are not impact-rated or are damaged; never use hand sockets with impact tools.
  • Do not use in the rain or in damp environments or where standing water is present.
  • Do not work in potentially explosive atmospheres or near flames or sources of ignition.
  • Do not modify the tool or defeat guards or safety devices.
  • Do not exceed the recommended torque or force the tool if the accessory binds; stop the tool and check the cause.
  • Do not use on ladders or unstable surfaces without appropriate securing methods.
  • Keep other people and animals out of the work area and give warning before starting noisy tasks or those with flying particles.
