Safety warnings and precautions
Key risks
- Burns from contact with the nozzle, the front section and hot adhesive.
- Risk of fire or surface damage if left on unattended or rested on combustible materials.
- Possible electric shock due to damaged cables, loose plugs or use in damp environments.
- Irritation from fumes or odours when the adhesive overheats or ventilation is poor.
- Drips and splashes that may fall onto skin or damage furniture and floors.
- Adhesive may be expelled if the feed channel is blocked and the trigger is forced.
- Trips or snags with the cable during use.
- Thermal damage to thin plastics, foams or other heat-sensitive materials.
Safe use
- Read and follow the instructions for your model before first use.
- Use compatible adhesive sticks of the diameter specified by the manufacturer; do not insert other materials.
- Place the gun on its stand on a stable, heat-resistant surface; use a mat to catch drips.
- Keep your hands dry and work away from water. Connect to a suitable socket and avoid the cable being taut or crossing walkways.
- Do not touch the nozzle or freshly applied adhesive; consider using heat-resistant gloves and eye protection.
- Work in a well-ventilated area; if you notice smoke or a strong odour, switch off and allow to cool.
- Do not leave the tool on unattended. Unplug when finished and before moving or handling it.
- If it becomes blocked, do not force the trigger: switch off, allow to cool and clean as directed by the manufacturer.
- Test the adhesive on an inconspicuous area with delicate materials to avoid warping or staining.
Storage and maintenance
- Unplug and allow to cool completely before storing.
- Store in a dry, clean place and out of reach of children and pets.
- Keep the cable free from forced bends and strain; periodically check the cable, plug and housing. If there is any damage, do not use it.
- Remove adhesive residue from the nozzle and housing when cold, using non-abrasive tools recommended by the manufacturer.
- Protect it from dust, moisture, extreme temperatures and direct sunlight.
- Use only compatible accessories and spare parts; do not modify it.
Restrictions on use
- For adult use only. Keep out of reach of children; if minors are nearby, work with close supervision and mark off the area.
- Do not use outdoors in the rain, in bathrooms, on wet surfaces or in atmospheres with dust or flammable vapours.
- Do not apply adhesive to items intended for contact with food, beverages or for prolonged skin contact.
- Do not use for structural joints, safety-critical components or parts subjected to high temperatures, intense vibration or critical loads.
- Do not cover the gun or rest the nozzle directly on materials while it is switched on.
- Do not use with damaged or low-quality cables, extension leads or multi-socket adaptors.
- People with respiratory or skin sensitivity should minimise exposure to fumes and work with adequate ventilation, or avoid use.
