Safety warnings and precautions
Main risks
- Ejection of fragments, dust and splinters, risking injury to eyes and skin.
- High noise levels that can damage hearing.
- Prolonged vibration that may cause discomfort in the hands and arms.
- Sudden kickback (drill bit jamming) with loss of control.
- Electrical hazard when drilling areas with concealed cables or when using damaged cables/plugs.
- Heating of drill bits and chuck, with a risk of burns.
- Inhalation of fine dust (e.g., silica) that can irritate the respiratory tract.
- Falling dust, debris or the tool when working overhead or at height.
- Damage to concealed pipes (water or gas) when drilling.
- Cuts from sharp edges of drill bits and accessories.
Safe use
- Always use eye, hearing and respiratory protection appropriate to the dust generated; good-grip gloves and, where applicable, a safety helmet and safety footwear.
- Before drilling, check the area with a detector to locate cables, pipes and reinforcing bars (rebar); avoid drilling where such services are present.
- Choose the correct drill bit and operating mode for the material; do not use damaged or incompatible accessories.
- Hold the hammer drill with both hands and use the auxiliary handle; maintain a stable stance and keep the work area clear and well lit.
- Start with moderate pressure and let the tool work without forcing it to reduce jamming and overheating.
- Disconnect from the mains or remove the battery before changing drill bits, cleaning or making adjustments.
- Use dust collection or extraction systems if the model allows, especially indoors.
- Take regular breaks to limit exposure to vibration and the tool heating up.
- When drilling overhead, do not stand directly beneath the work area and protect your eyes and airways.
- Avoid working on wet surfaces or in the rain; keep your feet and the area dry.
- If pneumatic, secure hoses and couplings; if battery-powered, lock the trigger when transporting.
Storage and maintenance
- Disconnect and allow to cool before storing or handling the drill bits.
- Store in a dry, clean place and out of the reach of children.
- Inspect before each use: cable, plug, housing, switch, accessory holder and handles; do not use the tool if it shows signs of damage.
- Keep the ventilation slots clean and remove accumulated dust after each use.
- Use sharp drill bits in good condition; replace any that are worn, bent or cracked.
- Lubricate or grease the parts that require it as indicated by the manufacturer; avoid unsuitable lubricants.
- Protect the cable from pulls, crushing and heat; coil it without tension.
- For battery models, charge with the charger specified by the manufacturer, avoid impacts and high temperatures, and store the battery in a cool, dry place.
Usage restrictions
- Not suitable for minors; inexperienced users should be supervised until they are competent to use it safely.
- Do not use the hammer drill in atmospheres with flammable dust, gases or vapours.
- Do not work in the rain, in puddles or with wet hands.
- Do not drill unknown materials that may contain asbestos or other hazardous substances; do not proceed if there is any suspicion.
- Do not modify the tool or block the switches.
- Do not carry or hang the tool by the cable or hose.
- Do not use makeshift accessories or those not designed for hammer drills.
- Do not work from unstable ladders or in strained positions; use a suitable support or platform.
- Avoid prolonged continuous use without breaks that increase exposure to vibration and heating.
