Safety warnings and precautions
Main risks
- Cuts or pinching injuries when handling grates, metal edges and fixings.
- Blockages from hair, soap scum and limescale that can cause standing water and slips.
- Bad odours due to drying out of the trap seal or build-up of residues.
- Leaks if joints and seals are not correctly executed.
- Damage to the waterproofing of the tray or floor when installing or removing the drain.
- Tripping or damage to the floor if the grate is not left flush or becomes deformed.
- Exposure to wastewater and splashes during cleaning.
- Skin or eye irritation from improper use of concentrated cleaners.
Safe use
- Review the contents and the manufacturer's instructions before starting.
- Check dimensions, available height and compatibility with the type of tray or floor before fixing anything.
- Wear gloves and, if using chemicals or cutting sealants, eye protection.
- Do not step into the drain opening or place loads on it without the grate in place.
- Apply sealants and fit seals as directed, and allow the specified curing times before using the shower.
- Ensure the grate sits firm and flush, with no sharp edges or loose parts.
- Avoid introducing fats, construction debris, wipes, excessive hair, or products that solidify.
- During cleaning, remove the grate with the appropriate tool, take out baskets or filters if present, and refit them correctly.
- Do not mix cleaning products (for example, bleach with acids or ammonia), and ventilate the bathroom.
- In infrequently used showers, pour some water in periodically to maintain the odour trap, if the model incorporates one.
- After installation or maintenance, perform a water test and monitor for any leaks.
Storage and maintenance
- Store the drain and its accessories in a dry, clean place protected from impacts before installation.
- Keep screws, seals and small parts in bags or boxes to prevent loss.
- Avoid saline or chemical environments that could damage metals or plastics.
- During building works, cover the drain opening to prevent debris entering.
- Clean the grate, baskets or filters, and the interior periodically with warm water and a neutral detergent; rinse and dry.
- Avoid abrasive scouring pads and highly acidic products or high concentrations of chlorine that may scratch or corrode.
- Periodically check the condition of the seals and the trap; replace components if you observe cracks, looseness or persistent bad odour.
- Visually check for damp or staining around the shower that may indicate a leak.
Restrictions of use
- Intended to drain shower water; do not use for solvents, paints, oils, cement or other construction debris.
- Do not drill, cut or modify the drain body or the grate.
- Do not use if the grate or the frame is deformed, cracked or has loose fixings.
- Do not leave the drain opening uncovered or the grate removed without supervision.
- Keep children and pets away during installation or cleaning.
- Avoid point loads or heavy impacts on the grate that could deform it.
- In installations integrated with waterproofing systems or continuous floor finishes, the involvement of a qualified installer may be advisable.
