Safety warnings and precautions

Main risks

  • Spills and tip-overs while carrying, especially with liquids or hot containers.
  • Cuts or injuries from sharp edges, splinters in wood/bamboo, or breakage of glass/ceramic.
  • Slipping of the tray or items if the surface is wet, greasy, or inclined.
  • Strain and muscle injuries from overloading or poor weight distribution.
  • Finger trapping or pinching when stacking or moving multiple trays at once.
  • Cross-contamination if the same tray is used for raw and ready-to-eat foods.
  • Damage to worktops or tables from moisture, drips, or residual heat from hot containers.
  • Instability when placing the tray on soft or uneven surfaces (sofas, beds, textiles).

Safe use

  • Ensure the tray and its handles are intact, clean, and dry before use.
  • Distribute the weight evenly and avoid overloading; use both hands for better control.
  • Improve grip by placing a dry cloth or a non-slip base if the surface is slippery.
  • Walk slowly, avoid sudden turns, and keep the tray close to your body to reduce swaying.
  • If carrying hot containers, use heat protection and a trivet, and ensure they are well supported and, if possible, covered.
  • Place the tray on flat, clear surfaces; avoid leaving it near the edge of tables or worktops.
  • Do not cut food directly on the tray or use utensils that could scratch or chip it.
  • For organiser trays for drawers/cupboards, fit them snugly and ensure they do not protrude to avoid snagging and tipping.

Storage and maintenance

  • Wash before first use. For routine cleaning, use a soft sponge and neutral detergent; rinse and dry thoroughly.
  • Avoid abrasive scouring pads, bleach, and prolonged soaking, especially for wood or bamboo models.
  • If not marked as dishwasher-safe, hand wash to preserve materials and finishes.
  • Periodically check for cracks, chips, warping, or loose handles/parts. Stop using it if damaged.
  • Store in a stable position: stack without forcing and, if necessary, interleave protectors to prevent scuffing.
  • Keep trays away from direct heat sources, persistent moisture, and intense sunlight to prevent warping or discolouration.
  • Check and replace non-slip bases or feet if they come loose or wear out.

Usage restrictions

  • Do not use as a step, seat, or work platform.
  • Do not transport children, pets, or loose hazardous items on the tray.
  • Do not place directly over a flame or on hobs, nor rest very hot utensils without appropriate protection.
  • Do not use the tray if it is cracked, chipped, warped, or has loose handles.
  • Keep out of reach of young children; if they handle it, do so under supervision and without heavy or hot loads.
  • Do not use the same tray for raw and ready-to-eat foods without thorough cleaning between uses.
  • Avoid use outdoors in strong wind or on unstable surfaces where it could tip over.
