Usage Warnings

Kitchen Hobs

Safety warnings and precautions

Main risks

  • Burns from surfaces, utensils and splashes of hot oil or liquids, even after switching off the hob (residual heat).
  • Fire due to overheating, gas flames or proximity to combustible materials (cloths, plastics, aerosols).
  • Gas leaks and build-up of flammable gases in gas hobs; risk of explosion if ventilation is inadequate.
  • Electric shock from moisture, damaged cables or improper handling.
  • Glass breakage (glass-ceramic/induction) due to impacts, thermal shock or excessive weight, with possible cuts.
  • Spills and tipping over of unstable containers that can cause burns.
  • Interference with active medical implants in induction zones.

Safe use

  • Use suitable cookware with a flat base and an appropriate diameter for each cooking zone.
  • Do not leave the hob unattended, especially when heating oil or deep-frying. Turn pan handles inwards.
  • Keep the surface clear of cloths, containers, aerosols and plastic or flammable objects.
  • Ventilate the kitchen during use; on gas hobs ensure the flame is stable. If it goes out, turn the control to off and ventilate before relighting.
  • Switch off completely after cooking and remember that residual heat may remain.
  • Avoid impacts and do not drag pots across glass surfaces; lift them to move them.
  • Do not heat sealed containers. If oil smokes, switch off the zone and cover the container; never use water.
  • Do not place foils, diffusers or protectors on the hob unless expressly instructed by the manufacturer.
  • On induction, keep electronic devices, magnetic cards and medical implants at a safe distance from the active zones, in line with the device manufacturer's recommendations.

Storage and maintenance

  • Wait for the hob to cool before cleaning. Disconnect from the mains if possible and safe to do so.
  • Clean spills and residues to avoid charring and bad odours. Use soft cloths and non-abrasive products; do not use steam cleaners.
  • On gas hobs, keep burners and ports clean for proper combustion and ensure good ventilation of the area.
  • Periodically check the condition of controls, cables (where applicable) and supports. If you notice any damage, do not use the appliance.
  • If the glass is cracked or deformed, stop using it until it has been inspected by qualified personnel.
  • Do not cover the hot hob with lids, protectors or cloths; allow it to cool in the open air. Keep the cabinet's ventilation slots clear.

Restrictions of use

  • Installation, adjustments and repairs must be carried out by qualified personnel. Do not tamper with gas or electrical connections.
  • Not suitable for use by children without supervision. Activate the child lock if your model includes it.
  • Do not use outdoors or in very humid environments, or where there is a risk of direct water splashes.
  • Do not use the hob to heat the room, dry clothes or as a support surface.
  • Avoid cookware that is damaged, unstable or too small for the cooking zone.
  • Do not place phones, magnetic cards or electronic devices on operating induction zones.
  • If you notice the smell of gas, sparks, unusual smoke or abnormal noises, cut off the relevant supply and ventilate; do not use it until the cause has been identified.
  • Do not store flammable products in adjacent cabinets without adequate separation, and keep aerosols away from heat.
